  1. Back ground heavy, maybe. But I would be proud to have made or to wear one if those belts. They look darn good to me.
  2. Beat me to it. I'm pretty sure I can learn from you. Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing.
  3. More views would help. I like the design and the colors.
  4. I like the sheath a lot, but I like the knife even more! That is a nice piece of work!
  5. Those are really cool. Maybe the decorations are not absolutley historically accurate (couldn't prove it by me), but they capture the flavor of the era very well. Back in my SCA days I would have killed for a knife and sheath like those. Much better than what I made.
  6. I appreciate that Wayner. I might have to send you a pm soon.
  7. Those look really good. I will check out dieselpunk.
  8. PM sent. First off let me say how much I appreciate the patterns you posted. I have used them several times and have been very happy with the results. I totally understand why you took them down. I did not ask anyone else if they could share a copy with me because I feel if you aren't sharing them any more I would respect that and just go to Plan B. As far as downloading it, I did. Saved it to my tablet. Unfortunately my tablet lost a fight with the inner workings of my recliner, and I did not save them to any other drives. (There's a lesson in there). I know that somewhere in my shop I have a template I saved, but organization is not my strong suit. In summation: thank you for sharing your patterns. That was a very generous gift that many of us on this network have benefitted from.
  9. "Relatively new to leathercraft"? I've been doing leather work on and off for over 40 years and I'd be proud of those. Nice job.
  10. Just finished up this holster for a police officer I know. The design may look familiar (thank you JLS!). I used Fiebings saddle tan with Fiebings show brown on the edges. Finished off with Satin Sheen and then a final coat of carnuba wax. Interesting story on that pattern; I have made a 42 Holster before using JLS`s terrific pattern, but I could not find that pattern in my files anywhere. JLS took the free downloads off his website, so l had resigned myself to drawing a new pattern myself. Then I found a pattern for a Glock 19 that had printed too small. Took some measurements, and the shrunken 19 pattern was a perfect fit! Had to adjust for length, but what a time saver - not to mention JLS tried and true patterns are better than mine.
  11. Yes, it's pretty darned heavy. Thanks for the kind comments.
  12. Looks very impressive. Got to show us what it looks like on the guitar.
  13. Your carving is phenomenal! Possibly even more impressed by your use of color! I am usually turned off by highly colored leather work, unless it is done at a very high level of quality. Your work is off the chart. Fantastic work.
  14. Easy for you to say. I tried this years ago. Several times. Lots of frustration. I eventually ran out of dirty words and had to stop. Yours look great.
  15. I just finished making this for a guy at work. It holds 20 rounds of 45/70 Government. The main body and billets are 8/9 oz. lined with 2/3 oz. Veg tan. Cartridge loops are 2/3 oz. Tooling was dyed using Fiebings tan oil dye with fiebings dark brown antique, the main part is Fiebings Show brown. The lining was left natural. All finished with Resolene and carnuba wax. Stitches at 7 per inch with 1 mm braided polyester thread. This project was a lot of fun. Only the second time I've made a ranger belt or done cartridge loops.
  16. Man, that is amazing! Your carving is fantastic. The coloring really brought it to life! As good as any leatherwork I've ever seen.
  17. I love the generosity of the contributors on this group. Thank you sir.
  18. Beautiful work. I am really impressed with your decorative cuts. That is what I have the most trouble with, yours are beautiful.
  19. It is good to know the traditional method, but I really like the effect you got. It's always nice to see something well executed in an unexpected way. Keep inovating!
  20. Awesome way to pass the craft on to the next generation. I have done a few projects with my grandkids and it's super rewarding for me and fun for them.
