  1. I am not sure either of these posters are still on the scene. As you can see, this thread originated in August 2012.
  2. I think I would reduce the hole spacing to 3/4 of the adult spacing, and make the holes the correct size for the buckle tongue (probably smaller on the child's belt). As for snaps, I would use line 20 snaps, rather than the bigger line 24. I would not use glove snaps at all on a belt. Please post pics of your work. I would like to know if my suggestions make sense in the real world!
  3. That has been my nemesis for 40 years, and I am yet to make a wallet. At least I am moving in the right direction. I have just bought some die-cut horween wallet backs. (the 1st horween I have ever seen). So the fun is about to begin ... sometime before I fall off the perch!
  4. As an exercise, get a quote for your leather including delivery, from Birdsall leather in Botany Bay, Australia. I have bought a fair amount from them, and never seen a bad piece. Delivery might price it out of your range, but if you don't ask, you will never know.
  5. I like the look. I would buy them in chrome, brass and black if they were available.
  6. Nope. Sorry Kel, still looks like 2 different shades of brown to me, probably my screen still. Are you gonna be at Howard's on Sunday next week, or Freo Beer Festival on Saturday ... or both?
  7. Looks like brown brown to me, but I guess that's my screen Really nice job whatever you call the colour.
  8. Email sent.
  9. I tried this exact same thing yesterday. For my test pieces, I used a section of cotton drill and a section of poplin, which is (apparently) a lighter cotton type of cloth. These were adhered to a piece of 4.5mm vegtan. I tried a section of contact adhesive and a section of Titebond lll PVA, with a piece of flat acrylic and heavy weight on top of the test pieces. The contact bleed through the lighter 'colour and weight' material, and was a definite fail. The Titebond lll PVA did not bleed through. The heavier cotton drill, which was a darker camo pattern, did not bleed through at all. Interestingly, neither adhesive appeared to affect the flexibility of the leather, but I did notice where I had applied the Titebond lll past where the cloth covered, the dried Titebond lll cracked when the leather was flexed.
  10. The average person has no idea of the difference between a mass produced leather item from China and a handmade leather item from your workshop. Your items are well worth the price point you have described, but 40 people per day? That is not many. The odds of one person in 40 looking to buy quality leather goods is a pretty remote possibility. You need a market with 80 - 100 people per hour checking out your quality goods.
  11. Great job. Mine is still in the planning stage. Just one suggestion ... with your backgrounding. Try to mix up the placement of the stamp, so you don't end up with corn-rows of the stamp impression.
  12. Does that belt keeper have an edge groove on one edge, or is it just the lighting hiding the 2nd edge?
  13. I like the detail on the inner pockets edge, and the dye pattern on the outside. Keep on with the practice. You will get it smooth as silk very soon.
  14. Tell her to drop in and say 'Hi'. We will look after her.
  15. I don't know where to get your baseball cores from, but I am wondering if buying cheap baseballs is false economy. Are the cores similar in cheap baseballs and more expensive baseballs?
  16. @Sebasopg15 Both look very functional, but your 2nd iteration is streets ahead in finish. It is great to compare 'what was' with 'what is'.
  17. This would be an interesting exercise. I guess it might come down to the skill of the programmer. From the little I know about 3D printers (I saw one once, my history come from laser cutting programs which are obviously 2D) I reckon I might be possible.
  18. @Killerwork thank you for your kind words. I will post pics when/if I manage to get them done.
  19. Looking really good. I hope my efforts will come out this good. I have 2 to make that I am planning give as Christmas presents.
  20. Nice job. I like the stitch colour, it matches(?) the zipper tape colour. Is that leather colour English Tan?
  21. How do you suggest cleaning a hide before the dye goes on? Saddle soap and fresh water?
  22. Welcome to the Funny Farm. There's lots of very knowledgeable people here, just come with the right amount of humility and respect, you will be fine.
  23. Ahhh ya mug! Stitch that thing!
  24. I think the whack is to press the 2 surfaces together. Where possible, I prefer to place the glued piece under a weight or clamp it, but I have seen some accomplished leatherworkers use the whack method!
