  1. It does kind of look like kodiak, might be a brown Montana. Or something completely different... pretty cool though.
  2. I thought that was snookered?
  3. I use my Tandy chisels and then cross the needles in the hole, then pull tight and straighten any threads that don’t lie right. I don’t usually use a pony, I just hold the project. This can get quadally if the leather is too soft, and yes, quite stabby if you’re using Glover’s needles, but they glide so much easier... Also I found at a sewing store, a few items that help me considerably. The first is a needle grabber. Essentially it’s an about 1X1 inch square of the same rubber that you use to open bottles with. Then I also found something called machingers. They are light weight knitted gloves with rubber fingers. I wrap my fingers in... toilet paper really, then put on the gloves. No more blood on the highway! The paper catches it and the rubber kind of seals after the needle pulls back out. It seems to be working pretty good. Oh! Plinkercases! I said I’d post the awls my brother made me... Here one is, grainy and a shaky hand, but they work really well! It’s fighting with me over the fid picture and Gary has since made me one with a teeny tiny sword in it! Maybe it will let me upload them later.
  4. My ren-fair gents would like that for a sporran.
  5. I haven’t played with the buffalo or the bison that we have. They both seem to have far different skin textures than cow hide. You would really need to want that particular look. Both or ours seem very soft and stretchy, but we have some kits that use bison and those bags don’t feel at all the same as the stuff in the cubbies at the store. Very heavy as well, although I don’t know if that is because of a heavier weight (oz.) or if they were split deeper than the bag leather. Your stitching is very good. I like the thread color.
  6. SQUEEEEE! I just bought one of these Saturday! 50$! It’s been in a barn for 30-40 years! It’s going to be so much fun to fix up! Can I use WD-40? Or is that too rough? Can I use the stuff that reverses rust damage? Or will that just weld my internal parts together? So excited to know somebody that knows! oh, well, that wasn’t creepy at all, was it?
  7. Gorgeous color. Thanks for the tutorial!
  8. What’s a leather washer? Are they like leather conchos, but without the metal spots? I ask because people actually make noises when they pick up my personal purses and the handles are always tearing out, or up. My current purse looks like a bear tried to escape from inside by tearing at the bottom of the handles. Lol. My next purse will be latigo. How hard is it to turn latigo inside out? daniel86, twice what?
  9. We can but try...
  10. Maybe a thigh tie?
  11. Gorgeous!
  12. That is a pretty design. I like the white. Good contrast. How did you reinforce the handles so that they don’t pull off or out of the main bag leather when the buyer stuffs too much in? How much can it hold without deforming?
  13. I think that the rivets are far enough over so that they wouldn’t scratch pens or tools. How did the leather flex on the holster to expose the gun to the rivet?
  14. It looks like our (Tandy) pigskin suede, we have two colors just like this.
  15. I had silicon mittens. They slipped and I got a 3rd degree burn from my knee down, covering my foot. Bacon grease, very dangerous. Seriously, not fun. Be careful with them.
  16. Nice pattern. Looks very well done. Stitching is gorgeous, and the color! A friend uses resolene a lot and I’ve heard that it’s shiny, but that looks very natural. Is the color mainly the dye, or did the neetsfoot darken it a bit as well!?
  17. What is VAT and p&p?
  18. Sweet! Nice job.
  19. I just cut out a fabric pattern of bag and take a quarter , or less, of an inch off. Then sew as usual.
  20. Interesting. Hope it works. I haven’t tried a whole lot of skiving. But my skiver does seem to be a little ... lot clumsier than any of the videos I’ve seen.
