  1. Yes, I am part of the crowd on the triple. It was quite a concert.
  2. We went to see ELP when they did the tour that became the Welcome Back My Friends album....with "27 TONS OF EQUIPMENT".
  3. I used to blow things up for the Army. I worked around power tools and heavy equipment for the next 45 years. Rock'n'roll had NOTHING to do with my hearing loss.
  4. I concur, very nice.
  5. I use plastic "disposable' putty knives. Get them at any hardware store. When done, let adhesive cure and rub off with an eraser. Homax 1-1/2 in. Putty Knife-00015 - The Home Depot
  6. I, for one, like to have tunes going when I'm back at the bench. I have a very wide range of genres I listen to. Celtic, classic rock, zydeco, Texas swing and more. Generally I bring Pandora up and put it on 'Shuffle' and listen for hours. Post a link to one of your favorites and share. Here is one of my current favorites. Ed Sheeran & Beoga - Nancy Mulligan | The Late Late Show | RTÉ One - YouTube
  7. I wash all my dye rags, never had a problem with it getting into the washer. Oil rags I let air dry and throw away. I've always heard oily rags can cause fires. Urban legend? Perhaps, but rags are cheap.
  8. My wife makes them out of Pendleton and Hudson Bay blankets.
  9. I use Magic Markers on my edges. One or two passes does it.
  10. When I was in the 8th grade (about 55 years ago) we visited my aunt and uncle in Jacksonville Beach. Our last night, there was a big storm, wind, driving rain, just plain nasty. Driving back across north Florida and into Alabama it had snowed, and little kids were trying to get snowmen moved into the shade.
  11. Just a suggestion, use a ribbon instead of leather.
  12. I like it. I think most books could benefit from a nice leather cover.
  13. Very nice. I like the texture you achieved on the trees.
  14. My son worked for a truss company, and part of his job was to haul the sawdust and small blocks to a waste site. The same waste site that the countertop guys took their scrap to. He got me a 25x32 piece of marble for nothing.
  15. Beautiful!
  16. I was right, my lady friend LOVED it!
  17. I have three shelves, two under my benches. The one on the north side holds my rolls of veg tan as it is best protected from sunlight. Chrome is rolled and kept under the other. The last is for 'buckskin' and it is all folded and rolled with the flesh side out.
  18. Leather Lace-BIRDSALL Kangaroo Leather-BLACK | eBay
  19. And partridge in a pear tree..... Seriously, it looks great!
  20. The scars and such are what makes leather interesting. If you want it blemish free, switch to paper.
  21. Tandy is TRYING to dig themselves out of a hole that is a result of years of cheap crap. Whether they succeed remains to be seen.
  22. When I got ready to dye the Christmas card I posted elsewhere, I need some small jars to reduce/mix my colors. It just so happens thatgg my hometown is also home to a popular fish egg/bait company. I stopped in and offered to buy some of their small jars. They GAVE me a dozen and wished me a Merry Christmas. I think some of you might recognize the brand. They are good folks and their fish eggs work pretty well too.
  23. While not technically a gift, here is a Christmas card I did for an old girlfriend that I recently re-connected with. My carving skills have atrophied badly in the years since my shop burned, and Olde English might have been a bit ambitious for a first go. But I think she will like it, and I'm fairly happy with it as well.
