  1. Good start. I know you didn't ask for a critique, but here goes anyhow! Sharpen and strop your swivel knife so it is easier for you to follow the lines. When you think it is sharp enough, sharpen it some more. Strop after every few cuts. Make sure your leather is not to wet. Knife drags a lot when the leather is too wet. It should be practically back to its original colour when it is dry enough. Take your time with your cutting. Pull towards you. Don't get in a big hurry. Hope this helps. Tom
  2. @GnewVFL Have you attempted a search here looking for what to charge? There are many threads and posts in this forum. Try this search https://leatherworker.net/forum/search/?&q=selling price leatherwork&type=forums_topic&nodes=36,35,22&search_and_or=and&sortby=relevancy Tom
  3. And your selling price is ?????? Tom
  4. @km6064 Moved your post to the "Marketplace" This is where for sale items should be posted. Please read the markeplace rules https://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/70-announcements/ Please provide the price, any shipping information like local pickup only, or willing to ship at buyer's cost, etc. Tom
  5. @knslbp Moved you post to the Marketplace - for sale since you say you want to sell, not buy! Suggest you read and comply with the Marketplace rules at https://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/70-announcements/ And obviously, you need to identify where you are located, shipping info, price for each machine, etc. It's a good idea to put your location in your profile. This is a world-wide forum. Tom
  6. When you fold the leather, you are stretching the outside layer. It isn't elastic. It won't return to it's original size/length. that is just the nature of the beast! Tom
  7. @ThreeRivers You have accidentally double posted, so I have moved this one to Business and estate sales. Good luck. Tom
  8. Maybe https://howardimprinting.com/ Ebay There is a facebook page for Kingsley, have seen it several times but not able to find it today! Who have you tried so we are not duplicating your efforts? Tom
  9. @utah leather Have you read through this thread? https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/25239-the-type-of-sewing-machine-you-need-to-sew-leather/ Tom
  10. Can't always remove distracting backgrounds. Some workshop pictures are even more interesting where we can see some of the tools and other hardware associated with the project. I wouldn't be moving a heavy machine just for a picture. Tom
  11. Full listing of books by Ron Edwards, https://www.ramsskullpress.com/index.php/itemlist/category/7-bushcrafts Tom
  12. Your old digital camera is doing just fine. The rest of improving pictures is practice, same as leatherwork or any other. Composition, lighting, interesting angles, some close ups, etc. Avoid distracting backgrounds if you can, but that is not always possible. Most people here are interested in sewing machines, fixing them, keeping them running, etc. Tom
  13. Have you done a search here for existing threads? Here are 2 that I found in a quick search. https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/53981-needle-size-thread-spi-and-leather-weight-rule-of-thumb/?page=2 https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/55351-ideal-stitch-length-for-specific-thread-size/ Tom
  14. @Nikos Moved your post to leather sewing machines. You'll get more help here. Tom
  15. @gtdewbre Moved your post to the marketplace. See instructions here https://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/70-announcements/ Tom
  16. Keep it in the fridge. Gum Trag is also used in icing and fondants. Tom
  17. Let's get back on topic. Computer drawing software. Tom
  18. Users cannot delete posts. When an item is updated to sold, a moderator moves the thread to old/sold and locks it. Can still be viewed, but no further posts are allowed. So it is now locked and moved. Thanks for the notification. Tom
  19. @Mark842 The machinist will have to turn the piece, then mill the surface similar to how they mill or broach splines. Your splines look like they have about a 5 degree offset or slope. If straight cut will suit you, you may be able to save a couple dollars. It's likely not worth the time to set up a CNC program for a one off. Take the part in with you and tell them you want them to make a new one. Here is a web page that will explain some of what you are looking for. Tom
  20. @Tc1388 Take the belt off and turn the machine by hand to see if it makes any unusual noise. With the power off and the belt off, turn the motor pulley and see what you hear. Try it without pressing the pedal, and with various amounts of pressure on the pedal. When searching for the location of a noise, you can take a short length of garden hose (or similar), put one end against your ear, and move the other end to check locations the noise is coming from. You don't need to press the open end of the hose against the machine, just close to it. It helps to eliminate other noise distractions and home in on the source area. Tom
