WILL SOMEBODY PLEASE GIVE ME A DIRECT ANSWER TO MY QUESTIONS
Doc Reaper replied to bryan4christ's topic in Member Gallery
DM me with that name, then I know who to stay away from. I have been doing leather for 51 years, it’s a competitive sport to say the least! I just saw your question From 2020 it’s August of 2022 now. Many folks don’t log on for weeks and months at a time, sometimes once a year. Some live in commie countries where freedoms are rare, others on here want your rights removed even though they are in a different country. Most of your questions have been answered, I just stumbled across this post -
New Shelf Unit Over My Bench Tool Bar

Nice job Jarhead, I noticed how neat everything is (is it still squared away?) I have made my work area as I used the space, it’s a catastrophe at this moment -
It possible: I combined my love of cars and CNC machines
Doc Reaper replied to Zack00's topic in 3D Printers and Lasers
I set up at a flea market, and if you sell handbags with “any logo” you best be licensed. The state boys actually send out agents to look for pirated brand names, just in the initial description “Zach00” could be held and his property searched. Lets just say I have a case of 24 “Igloo” drinking cups and they catch me with the UNOPENED box of counterfeit cups I don’t get charged for that case of cups - I get charged for each individual item. AND if I’m selling an actual “Igloo” item I had best have an actual license (printed with an address and phone number of said company) or it will look like a scene from “Men In Black” as they either write you a ticket to appear OR carry you and said items off to meet Bubba Here in the good old USA it’s ok to live a free life, just so long as you don’t step on the big guys toes. BUT if you are a politician or the family member of one, you get to go to an island and have sex with children or stay in the state your wife represents and get into accidents while you are drunk. -

I’ve noticed I get the same thing if I over apply the dye, it may be termed as pooling when you get too many coats on one area, it kind of gets a coppery glazed look to it. I use thinner to remove some of the applied dye. Wet a paper towel with thinner and wipe it until the paper towel is mostly black then grab another paper towel and repeat (do this for a total of three times), let it dry overnight

Trudeau probably had it censored off of Facebook, seriously

At one time in my life I lived above a jazz bar, it was a good experience, but in a crappy area of Richmond Virginia. I knew the owner and told him I needed a better car, the car was a New York State winter rat that I had purchased to leave the state. Certain portions of the floor would display the pavement below!!! I left my keys in the car, windows down, outside a bar, in a rough area of town, for well over two weeks. The car was so bad no self respecting thief would touch it! I found a note on the windshield stating that I could sell the car to a junkyard. The $75 I got for the car made me feel like a criminal.

The Power of ' word of mouth' advertising
Doc Reaper replied to Handstitched's topic in Marketing and Advertising
I have been in business for over 13 years and we only advertised our new building (but on the same grounds) to let our customers know where we are, I actually even have some customers come to the house, which they have told others. Yelp is a waste of effort, at the moment (the last three years) and tells the world you are there. But word of mouth is absolutely the best! -
Thanks TomE, I have multiple “finger rest” type swivel knives and this knife is the second time I have seen this one, it’s like you barely have to try! Now I’m wanting one

It appears to be a wide strap folded, helps cut down on the stitching and extra work -

That pattern looks as though it was cased until it was soggy then crinkled, dried, antiqued, and sealed. Now I have to mess around until I duplicate what’s in front of us

I like em, can’t see em needin anything from my view, I just made a holster with that royal blue and it turned out great, so I then went out and grabbed the green -
I can see it plain as day

It’s fan-effin-tastic, congrats on a smart purchase! I have one that was made without the two pre drilled holes for a drop down. When you see fit get a flat bed and the in-line presser foot from Uve Gross. just so you know it’s ready to sew 3/4 of an inch thick items when ever you are ready (something I found out 7 years after purchase)

That holster rocks! But the question I have is where in this world does one find a turtle tail for making a wallet?????
-
It’s real close to that, the one sent to me has a 3/16 brass rod for threading holes, I have a harbor freight table buffer but it spins way too fast
-
Frodo, I see I’m not alone, I use a die grinder. I have also ordered a burnishing tool from the “Leather Tool Maker” so I can use the drill press.

I am speechless

I’m so glad there was a picture of a goat (the animal) and they weren’t made for some old guy hshahahahahahahaha!

I have used many hole punches down through the years, straight black ones purchased at hobby stores, silver handled with interchangeable cutting heads, steel punches are great. I have scraps of leather specifically for hole punching, I sharpened em once the day I purchased them. sharpen the outside of the punch ONLY! Sharpening from the inside makes the hole larger on the inside of the shaft and the cut pieces travel up a thinning tunnel which will cause minor problems (jams) the angle at which the punch makes a big difference also. Shallow angles last longer (usually factory ground is best) if the angle is too long it will dull horribly quick and may even cause the sharpened edge to roll (high tin amounts will also do this - even on round knives) im seeing a lot of businesses mix in cheaper metals - like tin, and it is done to help their bottom line TOOL MANUFACTURERS TAKE NOTE - WE WILL PAY THE XTRA DOLLAR, RETURN TO OLD SCHOOL METHODS WHEN MAKING TOOLS china will keep making cheap because folks wanna save a damned penny
