I'm just getting into it a little as work will allow. I have always been a field/remodeling carpenter. I am quickly learning about the big difference between the two and how lacking in the tools I am for enjoying the total experience. I have made two tables this year. The first with dowel and pocket screws out of pine. The second was red oak m&t construction finished in linseed oil. Neither are perfect in any way, but they look good with their granite tops.

How thick is it? Most lining things I have seen weren't thick enough to need skiving. Maybe try a one sided layer of contact cement on a scrap piece? Just an idea.

Yeah, but you were talking about visiting the store. I have ordered something from them before. Oh the pica pencil. It is awesome. Great for carpenter work. I think the Rockler store is supposed to be pretty special too.

I am always impressed with great tooling. They look exceptional.

I understand all that. But aren't they in Massachusetts, Connecticut, or something like that? I only live 3 hours from Dallas. Scratch that: they're in frickin Canada! Won't be visiting there anytime soon.

I would imagine (as primitive as they are) they are just sticks of hardwood. Maple, pecan, oak, etc.

Harness for a lil guy named bo
bikermutt07 replied to Stetson912's topic in Collars, Cuffs, Leashes and Leads
That's a great story. And even though he is a bred dog, my favorite part is him being a rescue dog. Our family is not into bred dogs, but pound rescues. No judgement, just expressing my opinion. -
Cowboy CB1618 vs CB227R vs ... ?
bikermutt07 replied to Wonderboy's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I am staring very hard at the 341. It does everything the 227r can do and more. It has recently been confirmed that it can even handle 207 thread. You can always make a flat bed attachment. -
I haven't done it, but I think Stetson hit the nail on the head.

Bruce, it is such a small world. You may not believe it, but I have that same harbor freight mallet. LoL

That looks great thanks. -
I haven't ever been. But, the next time I'm in Dallas I plan to check out Rockler tool.

There was a manager that used to work for Tandy that used the same rocking motion with a small round mallet. He kind of held his hand in a "hang ten" fashion and just rocked the mallet back and forth. For all the investigating I've done into this hobby, I have never seen these. Thanks guys, learn something new everyday.

I can't say exactly what it is. But some oxcylic (spelling?) acid should clean it off.

Since we are on the lip balm topic..... Carmex works wonders on dried cracked knuckles as well as burns. Another thing I have learned over the years is Suave 2in1 is perfect for body wash and shampoo. Think about it. Everything your hair and scalp needs, the rest of your body needs. And it's super cheap. I have been using this "hack" for more than 20 years.

That is an undertaking. Great job.

I don't have answers for most of your questions, but I think Maverick carries some.

I'm prouder of that line than I am of my stitching. That pad cover looks great. -
