  1. Once I run out of their needles, I certainly will!
  2. I got one, and it stitches, out of the box. Maybe I got lucky. Never tried it on the supplied "tripod" and instead mounted it on my own wooden base. There is a picture somewhere around here. Since I got it and sewed it off, I never used it and am still contemplating either buying a copper and chromium plating kits and plating some parts myself or taking it apart and sending it to be chrome plated because all that is not painted is bare steel and doomed to rust. I got this machine locally, from an eBay seller in my city, and it only cost me about US$150, at my door, so I do not see a point in buying from China directly. Today it is even CD$20 or US$15 cheeper than what I had paid: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/193082243092
  3. I too want that cookie!
  4. Did you try hardware and fastener wholesalers? Not sure if HD supply has presence in Oz. They carry chains. Eh, I mean, they sell them.
  5. You are my guardian angel, Fred!
  6. This is a holster retention strap with a 15mm snap and an 8mm rivet. What is the name of the SS plate that connects them, and who sells them?
  7. I do agree that it is very cool.
  8. I love how copper hardware and leather compliment each other. The carving is in very good taste as well.
  9. Looks very Crocodile Dundee'sh
  10. What makes you add so many empty lines after your comments?
  11. Thank you for a neat trick! I too have a coil of brake cupro-nickel pipe lying around. Mind you, it turns green if left in the moist environment, so probably it is a good idea to find a way to coat them rings.
  12. Oh, not another former binder!
  13. Do the scales look backwards, or is it just me?

    Edgers?

Yeah, garden variety edgers that are dime a dozen.
  15. So... Did you end up buying anything?
  16. If it stitches, then it is good. This is no rocket science. Visually inspect for wear and sew a few leathers. Hopefully there will be little wear on this slow machine as opposed to high-speed textile machines on which the thread literally grinds groves into parts. Unfortunately this is not a guarantee against parts breaking down the road, which is possible due to the age.
  17. Correct me if I am wrong, but the needle system of 97-10 is 7-4. They are about $20-25 a pack and come in 23-25 sizes.
  18. He's talking out of his rear end. Tar and feathers in order. Talk to a different dealer. I have a small pulley on my Family 550 servo that your Consew is a clone of. It stitches at the lowest 350 just fine. The pulley came from a Hitachi clutch motor that was on my Juki DDL when I got it. This is why I love the old-style Family 550 with a keyed shaft instead of the new Rex etc with a threaded shaft: they used to be compatible with clutch motors. Do you mean General Industrial Sewing Machines? GSM Sewing? If you do, then the name of the owner is Neal, and he is indeed very knowledgeable and helpful person.
  19. Are you using leatherpoint needle? Is your machine new or used and where did you source it? Please also post the picture of your needle plate and feed dog.
  20. Used or new? Pics?
  21. Not sure how I got added. Never requested it. I know it may come as a surprise, but could you please remove me?
  22. Simple and practical. Love them!
  23. Or sell it and get a different servo. My Family 550Wt is slow at its lowest setting.
  24. It's worth asking whether it is a 110 or 220 V motor.
  25. It is set up for binding but missing the actual binder and tape spool holder. To do straight stitching, you are going to have to buy a regular needle plate, feed dog, feet and that black arm cover that I cannot remember the correct term for. Maybe more parts need to be replaced. Wizcraft will tell.
