  1. Is that a roller stamp for along the edge of a belt, holster etc? @arbalet12 Sergey Neskromniy makes some.
  2. Rockoboy

    Tool ID

From the left side, it appears to me you have: - a rivet or snap setter - pointed stylus small - pointed stylus large - snap setter - snap setter - unknown (Maybe a letter stamp?) - lacing chisel - snap or eyelet setter Disclaimer: Any or all could be wrong because I cannot see a lot of detail.
  3. Thank you one and all. I hope you all have a safe and merry Christmas and a happy new year.
  4. Try @arbalet12 Sergey Neskromniy. A few months back he showed some embossing rolls he is now making.
  5. Sorry. I do not understand your difficulty. You want something to line or fill a bag with to hold fake flowers? As there will be no moisture, line it with plastic, cotton, silk, paper or whatever you wish, taped and/or glued at the corners to hold its shape. If you want to use some polystyrene foam to hold fake flowers, cut it to size, place it in … job done.
  6. Depends on whether its a right side or left side carry. These knives, especially the wood handled knife, appear to me, to be a left side carry (the straight side of the sheath being to the rear when fitted).
  7. Your design looks really good, but for your next iteration, there are templates for a Ranger Belt in the Lucky 8 Belt Book. That would work for billet length.
  8. Welcome Necmi. You will get better, stick with it. I think your watch strap shows good stitching in some patches.
  9. Sounds like you did a great there. I am always interested in results from non-standard practices.
  10. That is the greatest thing I have seen, since the last thing you carved! The background, the eyes, the hair … it's all fantastic. Thank you for sharing.
  11. Is that because the dogs don't like them as accessories with their collars?
  12. It has been said hereabouts on more than one occasion, that doing tack repairs is a no-no! If a repair fails for any reason (including abuse by the customer), the fault and possible subsequent law suit will fall on the repairer until he can prove "no fault". Be very careful doing repairs to possibly old, dried and/or damaged leather.
  13. I cut down sheepskin fleece for dye application, so the fibre is not so long and holding (wasting) extra dye. I just use a pair of scissors. The finish is not really flat and even as you would want for a project, but it works OK for my purpose.
  14. I have 3 sizes of makers mark, 30mm X 50mm,15mm X 25mm and 10mm X 12mm. The two larger are both oval shaped, the small one is just my first initial. 1st pic is the medium size, 2nd pic is the largest stamp.
  15. I have used a drill press, which is just a huge copy of a dremel press. I don't turn on the drill. I just use the drill to hold the awl blade and use the press to cut the hole in some very hard thick leather..
  16. As you stated, So ... don't buy 1inch stamps for a watch strap, and don't buy 1/4inch stamps for a belt. Buy the set you need for your next project.
  17. I'm guessing he's got his eyes on the doe!
  18. Along the spine of an animal is usually best for belts, belly leather is more supple, and prone to stretching, so better for things that will not be affected by the flexibility, and shoulders are different to the hindquarters, so yes, the location on the hide where your leather comes from should be considered when choosing leather for a specific task. Kangaroo leather is usually about1.0 - 1.5mm, but I have seen 5.0+mm kangaroo leather. It was just a small patch where the tail joined to the back on a hide I tanned myself about 35years ago. Overall the hide was quite flexible, but the thicker section was like plywood.
  19. Pure gum turpentine has a nice smell (IMHO) to it, plus I think it would help to repel any sort of insect infestation. As for any real need, maybe you're right @TargetRockLeather, it may not be needed.
  20. Nice job. The word "Retired" lets the side down a little, because the letters are a little 'out of line', but still pretty good work.
  21. Sheath and blade go together really well. The white thread is a bit of a statement. Nice job.
  22. Your leather looks too wet to me. You appear to have a halo of excess moisture around the stamp. The leather should be almost the same colour as dry leather, but cool to the touch.
  23. My shop press has a gauge to indicate the pressure, but I guess not all shop presses have that option. Maybe, once you have done the 1st item that you are happy with, you can copy by counting how many pumps of the handle.
  24. Depending on where in Australia you are, There will be somebody around who can sharpen these for you. In Perth, I would go to Cut-It-Out in Perth City. Alternatively, I would find somebody who can get them picked up by Hughan's Saw Sharpening Service. They pick up from lots of smaller retail stores and return sharpened tools. Disclaimer: All useless information unless you happen to be in Perth or regional W.A.
  25. That looks like something the whip-makers would braid. I am guessing it is braided over a core. There are some examples in the Braiding section on this website.
