John James' needles 004 are smaller and Tiger thread will fit.

KS Blades are great irons, I have more than a few sets. The tips are slightly rounded and they have a nice balance and low center of gravity. They easily sit in the line. I've tried Sinabroks but didn't like them because of the square teeth. I see other people using squared off teeth where they scribe a line and then punch on the side or edge of that line.

First passport wallet

When you glue the lining on, form it on a bend. That will help avoid the wrinkles. -
Tool pouches, packs, bags, and the works
mike02130 replied to RuralHill's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
I'm a finish carpenter (joiner) and have made a few over the years. I prefer one without a lid. Much easier to get tools in and out, more convenient handles and overall less pain in the ass. The only reason for a flap IMO is when using public transportation or to keep other persons hands out of the bag. The Klein leather electrician's bags are a nice design. -

You could use beaver tail leather. Hmm, maybe too cabalistic for the mascot? -
Drawing A Straight Line For My Pricking Iron

The tape will gum-up the needles. Glue is better. Do you have any lining to keep the cards in place in those tranche (slit) pockets? -
Drawing A Straight Line For My Pricking Iron
mike02130 replied to AzShooter's topic in How Do I Do That?
A wing divider will allow a nicer stitch when doing a saddle stitch. A channel keeps it from being slanted. I cut one piece to size and I cut any overlapping pieces slightly bigger then glue and trim to size. I find this results in a straight edge that needs very little sanding. I use goat leather which is difficult to mark, I will run my wing dividers around the perimeter then I often have to do it again, an inch or so at a time then prick, then again and so on. Often I will plant the first tooth on the line then lower the last tooth and press gently leaving a slight tooth depression to make sure I'm lined up. A rotary cutter works better on thin stretchy leather than a knife. I make my pattern out of thick cardstock then use double-sided tape to stick it down and use that as my guide for the rotary cutter. -
Hmm, it must be the language barrier. I looked up the word. We’re cool.

What a dumb ass remark.

I once used a clear jar for Weldwood contact cement and had a similar problem. Now I use a brown jar and no problem. I figured it doesn't do well with light.

Of course as an American, I don't know much (sarcasm intended) but with all the new postal regulations and VAT rules and all, no one seems happy. Can a UK company keep in business by just selling to UK customers? There are a lot of Etsy sellers that won't sell to the UK and Europe because of all the new rules. Below is a notice from an EU leather dealer. It's about exports to UK. What's the deal? THE UK My dearest customers from the UK. The Brexit situation makes our business with your country complicated. The prices for you do not include VAT (meaning that you do not pay VAT in Europe), however you will be requested to pay import VAT in the UK. Please note that we can deliver to you if the order total will be more than 160€. More about the changes here: https://www.gov.uk/import-goods-into-uk

Once you start the cut, when pulling the leather through you need to pull it downwards while holding the uncut end down also.

Fly swatter
mike02130 replied to Klara's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I make and sell them. They're better with a series of holes so the fly doesn't get the warning from the wind it creates. -
Yeah, what he said. At what point does it roll? You really don't need much pressure with water. I use paraffin wax. Bee's wax is too hard, while paraffin has some oil and it rubs on easier.

Just Got Some Python. Now What To Do With It
mike02130 replied to AzShooter's topic in How Do I Do That?
I have a 6' python skin. it has scales that don't like to be rubbed the wrong way. I don't see it working as a wallet. Maybe yours is different? I've heard the same from others. Many folks use it as an inlay. What is it's thickness? I use 1mm leather for my wallet backs lined with .5mm leather=1.5mm. Sometimes .5mm with .5mm salpa and another .5mm leather. I glue mine on a fold. -
My lighter skins I clip to a hanger in a closet.

Hmm, that looks pretty bulky for thread? Did you skive the pocket down to a taper? If it is thread, I would put a smooth plastic card in there then beat it with a hammer. For my interior pockets I use .35mm thread and wide spacing.

Not all edgers are numbered the same. Palosanto #0 and Ron's Montana #1 and Barry king's #00 are all the same size. They cut a round edge. There are others that cut an angle.
