Just finished this for a fellow. He brought over an old Indian river knife kit blade he had laying around for years. it cleaned up real nice. He just wanted simple leather so i made this also. For those wondering the wider snap loop has a function it is because the knife is handle heavy so if i were to put a standard loop at the bottom of the handle the sheath would tend to tilt. raising and widening the loop puts the balance point higher solving the problem. Sheath 9 oz with canyon tan, water proofed with mink oil and ready for the hunt.

I made a few of these for some folks and tested them a bit, my thoughts are that it is a very good blade design and makes for a really nice push knife. With a handle it is still Small and comfortable to use. It would rock with thinner leathers especially.

of course head shape and axe function also affects design of the sheath. These are made to carry on a belt for example.

so do i , trouble with adding sticky stuff is a sling isnt just for carrying the weapon, if you actually use your sling as it should be to shoot with your going to have problems.

i use regular good quality artists grade acrylics.

a lot of folks put a thumb hole through or a loop on the inside to hang their thumb in so the sling wont slip around.

your stitching makes it look much better!! Don't rush slow down and enjoy the process of learning and creating. A welt in a sheath is a strip of leather put between the outer two pieces that protects the stitching from being cut by the blade. Usually about a 1/4" to 3/8" wide. running the length of the blade. you glue it between the two outer pieces along the edge then sew through it
