  5. There is not a thing wrong with simple you do beautiful work! There is an idea about art that the simplest strokes make the loudest noise, many great artist have spent their lifetime trying to accomplish that.

  12. I'm doing my get ready for winter chores lol. getting my old truck and camper ready for 10 days in the mountains hunting elk. gotta till the garden and winterize everything, fix a couple of storm windows. I have no idea how much gas is going to cost us this year so I'm worried about that a bit. Dang you set a fine plate, that looks so good. my brother is bringing in a deer today for me, it will make some awesome sausage for the winter, and some nice leather lol.

  14. that is some nice work indeed and a lot of sewing time lol.

  16. I've perused both men's free videos i think that is where i would start, getting a feel for each style of design work and see which trips your interests most.
  17. i think it depends on the size of the lace the look you want and maybe a couple more variables. something real thick with thin lace maybe so, something real thin with thick lace maybe not. I usually try to use a lace thickness that compliments the leather thickness so i never really thought about it much and typically don't.
  18. dang your getting after it!! great work indeed tooling roses are my kryptonite lol.
  19. the inmates where i worked used to use it for lube on the meat slicers and kitchen equipment after about a 3 months it would turn to this rubbery gummy stinky mess, took complete disassembly and soaking in motor pool solvent to loosen it up. It would gum up so tight that it would strip the gears out of the auto slicers. I"ve seen many thousands of dollars worth of damage to high quality Hobart equipment from using that stuff. My motto is Don't be cheap on something that may be a personal lifelong keepsake.
  20. great 1st try. all you need is more practice at this point. Knife practice, getting a smooth flowing design is the first step, make sure your knife is sharp so it runs smooth, keep it straight up, get some scrap and practice. Use a background of some type or if just beveling then work on smoothness all around your outline. i bevel with my mallet trying to get good even hits then i take my beveller and by hand smooth out any rough edges all the way around Dying is somewhat of an art in itself, you can dip dye or use an air brush for even look or a natural sponge if you want the mottled look. block dyeing is another option or you can use a brush and paint on coats of dyes like red for your flower . i have never had good luck dyeing with wool dauber.
