  1. My dad actually found an old one in the field near his house. The handle was rotted away of course. He put a nice walnut handle on it and peened brass rivets in it. Before my LW days, I actually had someone make me a sheath for it. Still have it to this day. Thanks for sharing, and nice way to protect it in the drawer.
  2. Great thinking out of the box. I love avenger style holsters, that's typically all I use. I like the thought of this hybrid, but if I were going to use a pancake holster, I think I might want more substance (leatherwise) around both belt slots. I don't know if I would be comfortable wearing a holster with just a single piece of loose leather supporting the gun on my belt. Maybe, instead of folding the leather over the gun like a traditional avenger, you used 2 pieces of leather to form the holster similar to a pancake, then skive down the portion that would be covered by the flap you have extending. Just to give it a little more material. Or have 2 flaps, 1 on each side that come together and culminate at the belt loop.
  3. Great copy of the original. I have yet to buck stitch anything. It definitely looks better than the original.
  4. Looking good. Make sure to post finished pics...

I understand about feeling younger. God brought a young lady into my life recently. I think God has already affirmed she will be my next wife. It has been over a year since my wife passed. I think the timing is of God and he is allowing me to leave my mourning and grief behind and start a new chapter. Keeping you in my prayers. Communion is a special time. It serves to bring remembrance of the Lord's sacrifice on our behalf.
  6. Love that stamping pattern on the pockets. Great job.

Your work with paints is simply stellar. Glad to see you back with a brush in your hand. How are you doing?
  8. I am sure she will be pleased. I think it looks great!
  9. Thanks @Bert03241.
  10. pretty cool. Thought about engraving your maker's mark in the leather too?
  11. Sergey Stamp. Thanks! Yeah the guy said patterns, not floral... I would have preferred to neck down the ends and had it all one piece instead of the added billet and buckle end for attachment. Whatever the customer wants...be happy to assist if I can. Thanks! Lots of fun making it. One holster ended up in the trash. ouch! Actually broke 2 needles in the Cobra trying to stitch the first one.
  12. Nothing like creating based on what you have. Been there many times. Gotta get some leashes made. This was my first and only...
  13. I would use 2oz. veg tan. Case it, then wrap tightly, let it dry. If dyeing, dye before casing.
  14. Love it. Worked like a dream! Thanks!
  15. Makes perfect sense now. Thanks!!!
  16. Very sharp, not only do I like the inlays, but the diamond shape as well.
  17. Thanks. How did you get it? Mike S - shoot me an email. pastorbobleather [at] g mai l [dot] com
  18. Someone on here had a belt with a pattern on the inside, and said it was only for the customer, something special. I wanted to recreate that and realized I had his sig. Thanks for the compliments. Thanks. He absolutely did not want a brown floral pattern. Said he wanted black. I actually used Natural thread to get the contrast. He actually brought one of his dad's belts and said, "make it like this, but 3" shorter. I was able to use the existing gun belt as a pattern. I used @Dwight or @JLSleather method for bullet loops. The original belt used stitching between each loop. Thank you sir. Probably close to 12-16 hours in it.
  19. Thanks! will it hold weight? Not sure what a "ledger" is. You mean just flush with the bottom?
  20. Very clean work. Agree with skiving down edges or maybe not doubling the inside pockets to reduce the edge thickness.
  21. can you attach the picture. Lots of folks don't like clicking on links. Thanks.
  22. Very impressive. Was the embossed leather veg tan?
  23. Nothing like seeing a smile on grandkids faces. Well done. That should last him for a long time. Great job on the lettering. Those are so hard.
