  1. Very impressive. Love the large swirls and 3D effect. That is gorgeous!!!
  2. Super clean basket weave. I love the 2 stamp camouflage around the edges. Clean stitching lines as well. Nice job. It doesn't appear you hammered your stitch lines when done. It may help fill in the stitch holes a bit better. Love the color as well. You definitely went above and beyond by stamping the back too. Nice touch.
  3. Wow. Looks awesome. Nice tight lines around firearm too. Great job. Beats the 6 month wait for sure.
  4. pretty cool. Never thought of tooling rough leather. What thickness of leather? How is the retention on these? What method did you employ for attaching to belt? Do you have a shot of the back?
  5. hmmm. sounds like your IT folks ramped up their security. Mine has too, but fortunately I still have access to this site.
  6. +1 for inkscape. It is free. Not intuitive, but there are a lot of great YT videos to assist
  7. nicely done. really like the addition of the "thin blue line". Your stitching looks amazing too.
  8. Those are very nice, Chuck! Very simple, yet elegant. Stitching looks impeccable.
  9. Sounds like you got bit bad by the leather bug. Can't wait to see the Ruger holster.
  10. Sorry, just saw your post. And welcome from SW Missouri. I have 3 different size maker's marks I use, depending on the project size. If you would like, I have the ability to create acrylic stamps with a laser. This would be more cost effective to play with before buying a brass stamp (if you are so inclined). Let me know if you are interested.
  11. Superbly done. Wow. That is fantastic. Agreed. Like the color combo.
  12. Very nice. Like the added touch.
  13. I don't think that will be the case. I have conversed with the folks at International Leather Club regarding things such as holsters, sheaths, cigar humidors, and "right to bear arms" key chains. No issues. I am sure rifle slings will be no issue as well. so far, it has been fairly easy to get the site up and running. More to come on sales. I guess the one thing that will be advantageous is that folks looking here will be looking for high quality items, not junk. I hate selling on FB. Everyone wants to pay pennies on the dollar for good quality stuff. Not worth my time.
  14. I use Barge's contact cement, but yours should work fine. I think you could use a single layer on the trim pieces without any fanfare. As for burnishing chrome tan, I use tokonole (or a variant sold by Springfield Leather...or any leather shop). It works really well. I just apply a little with my finger and rub it in, then run some canvas over that. I don't even edge it. Give it a try.
  15. Good looking indeed. Couple of questions: Why did you choose to have the cover and spine as different pieces versus just wrapping the cover all the way around? What is the thickness of the leather? Is this strictly a cover for a Bible? Where it slips over existing cover of Bible? If so, is the Bible hard or soft cover? If not, did you remove the existing cover and glue the leather one in its place? Thanks. Love the color choice as well. Very classy. What was your dyeing and finishing process?
  16. If you have the leather, practice, practice, practice. :-) Keep the plain wallet (or give as gift) and make another one from scratch with the tooling.
  17. I bought one of those cheap cocobolo tips for my dremel. I still prefer the hand slicker from Tandy and a bit of canvas. Seems to go just as fast, except for on belts.
  18. For those interested in selling their leather products online, there is a dedicated market place getting up and running. It will be limited to handcrafted merchandise and avoid all the bulk made items that are listed on Etsy now. The shop setup is free and there are no commissions to list your items. Only a 6% commission on each sale. I am familiar with the owners of the site, but am not affiliated (other than listing my wares) with them in any way. Just thought it would be another avenue. Like I said, it is just starting up, but the owners are excellent at Search Engine Optimization (SEO), so I am sure in no time there will be some traffic. Here is the link. https://www.internationalleatherclub.com/marketplace/
  19. I use a double layer of 5/6 oz. leather for my avengers. Seems to give it some rigidity and retention without being too flimsy. Are you using a stitching groover for your stitch lines? It appears the stitch lines vary from the edge in places. Was this intentional? I normally set my stitch lines about 1/8" - 3/16" from the edge. I am using a modified Slick Bald Pattern for mine. I like the brass rod idea, I am using a portion of a chopstick.
  20. Looks good Frodo. Just a thought...maybe round off those sharp points near the left, where it necks down and around the thumb hole, on the exterior. Like the lines around it. I have been playing with that lately as well. Adds a nice touch.

    You Know !!!!

    Merry Christmas!!!
  22. I have calipers, micrometers, and a handy acrylic gauge I picked up at Springfield Leather. They are $3-4 bucks.
