Beautifully done. I haven't had time to investigate the airbrush or invest in the equipment yet. I purchased the items for the vacuum system, but have yet to even unbox it. Hopefully in the next month, I can get to it.

I use tokonole and slick it down. I don't have a glass slicker so I use a boning tool.

knife with leather handle tutorial
PastorBob replied to Mulesaw's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
wow. Lots of good stuff, @Mulesaw. Thanks for sharing the steps and pics. Really like the note, "DO NOT TOUCH". I guess even at sea, people touch stuff they shouldn't. LOL. -

Books are easy to find either on Amazon or Springfield Leather. -
That's quite the machine there!

All I know is there are some fine examples of both here. Artists all around. Love any excuse to see some of your work. Thanks for asking the question, @Frodo

That's a great point.

I have to agree. Keep in mind, folks outside of leather are not familiar with the tasks required to get the intended results. i have seen folks go gaa gaa over an embossed belt. I just recently finished a dog leash with a simple meander pattern. Lots of folks really liked it. On the other hand, I have spent quite a bit of time with a scrap piece of leather either carving patterns or stamping patterns trying to come up with one I haven't done before.

my pleasure.

$35-55 depending on complexity, personalization, etc.

Not sure. They look like they would function the same, just a different form. It appears the arch punch would waller out the top of the hole more, especially with thicker leather. Seems to have more taper than the 245 punch.

Confederate Waist Belt

Looks like it will last another 40 years. Great keepsake to pass on to other generations when the time comes. -
I don't think it is a function of a specific machine, just a different design and pattern. Stitching looks the same throughout the image you shared.

On which machine, @Doc Reaper? I don't have one on my Class 4.

I also use the side cutter method for double capped rivets. Otherwise, I will drill out the head with a drill bit after center punching. Typically one side of the rivet is not exposed and if you remove the rivet from that side, even if you leave a few marks, it won't be seen.

It all depends on what you are making. I have more than a dozen hole punches of various sizes. including the rotary punch tools. Can't say that I have used them all, but have used 4 or 5 of them on the buscadero gun belt rig I am currently working on. I don't think any of mine are Osborne punches. Some are from Tandy, others from Weaver, and I think one set was originally used to punch out rubber gaskets. They all work beautifully on leather...as long as they are sharp.

Now I understand. Thanks for sharing the pics. Sorry you had so much trouble. Glad you were able to fix it, not toss it.
