Singer 29 k large vs small bobbin capacities?
Burkhardt replied to Bj Dixon's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I think you missed the whole point of @Wizcrafts post, neither machine you're referring about will/can sew any type of holsters. A 1/4 of an inch for a holster would be a real flimsy holster. You got the best explanation and knowledge from someone as you're going to get from @Wizcrafts. -
Welcome, but could you turn off the black background when posting.

I cut the center out to see the needle better and was going to tell you I also drilled the needle plate bigger because the arm has a mind of its and moves. Also don't know if you need any parts look at Bantom Saddle Tack in the states carry a bunch of the parts for them. Like wanting a extra bobbin tension screw that's 3.00 and you can buy the whole bobbin with the screw for 4.00 and 5 min. after you get it you drop the screw to never be found a again.
-
Did you move the tensioner there on the needle bar thing or is that where it came?
-
Yes you will know how sewing machines work. I ran mine with 207 on top and 138 on the bottom and made the second hole on the bobbin/hook (both of them) a touch bigger and smoothed and polished. The bobbin tension I left with little resistance and the top using only one of the tensions almost all the way in. You'll break the needle if you try to pull the thread out through it. That's how I set mine up for and would do 2 pieces of 8-9 no problem, as @kgg said that what I used is the 135x16s. The absolute biggest of the adjustments and things with getting the cams and the arm positioned right was polishing the hook bottom and top of the piece with the gear. Like you said you'll learn everything about sewing machines so if you got any Qs ask away.

Welders Arm Guard by Mark Condit 2020-1.pdf

So you're now saying how expensive it's going to be after I listed a link for everything you need for 8.00 bucks. I listed it because I bought and used and still have and use what's included. Making up your mind on what you want and plan to do vs just a sheath is a big difference be cause I'll guarantee if you get the stitching chisels and put them through 3 pieces of 8oz veg, you'll wreck the sheath getting them out, Good luck.

how to attach metal clip to leather holster
Burkhardt replied to Bert03241's topic in How Do I Do That?
Have you used these or seen them? I like the fact that it's 4 holes spaced wider than the 2 next to each other. https://www.springfieldleather.com/Clip-Belt-Wideback-Black -
Since you seem so knowledgeable about quality and where to buy tools you should look under the very store you listed on Amazon at what they sell and see if anything looks familiar, sorry to rain on your parade but all the crap the sell on Amazon is the same crap they sell on Ebay all made in China. The same stores that list on Amazon are the same stores on Ebay, Look at shipping times and they will all be the same time cause they're coming from the same place.

It looks huge, hope your new thread is the natural color you still get the stand out without the dirty look after 5 minutes of the white.

Did you bother reading the name of this post or anything about it " Minimal Tools Needed for Knife Sheath"?

You are seriously dumber than I thought.

What size and kind of thread did you use?

Would you sell the pieces without any type of finish on them vs the stainless pricing? -
You got the box cutter, don't over complicate it. 8.00 bucks you're good to go. https://www.ebay.com/itm/304723024126?hash=item46f2e858fe:g:j9oAAOSwxKFdoC8p&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoNAmVQTgtQ0jsyh4dlm5%2BKyYc0T9WYwW0z6DtzaZGLrf%2FBMXG0HkIsqvrIXsYhH%2BIgsAvC1OGBgoECX8oXqijhN2hBPw2LZd31IbfHmOEN5xc31%2B%2Bd7me%2B8OrVJic8b4LCEztAQdG28ZduBLf8VyjD7CufcNWcH5%2By8RHYa4AByn6A277PAs88zY3Ri8TN98iT0PMggvBBdJtfqEKdrP2L8%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_Sjk4GwYQ

Just watched a video last night from a farm in SD last light that the spring they had hay numbers that were huge. Rest of the summer was as dry as a popcorn fart. Had to put the cattle out on corn stocks early for feed and now they got hammered by snow and had to buy hay for extra feed. Another place I watch videos is a couple hours south of me had to mow the hay and leave on the ground because they had so much and didn't have more room for it and they sell a lot of it.

Beef cattle in your part of the country may be different but it ain't how they do it in the Midwest. Of course the word heifer is misused with cattle but if they have females that keep producing calves they keep breeding them. The farmer would go broke if they only bred them once. If half of the calves were male and you ship them all out and just keep the young females you'd go broke. That's why they ween them in the fall so the mothers can regrow the calves over winter. Any farmer will tell you heifers have birthing problems after that they keep breeding them till they don't get pregnant then they go to slaughter.

Leather smell, storage smell, mildew smell?
Burkhardt replied to Redbeeerd's topic in Leatherwork Conversation
I read a bunch of reviews on this leather sold from dealer and several people said it stunk so bad they couldn't use it and of course were livid about it. Couple weeks/month later the same people left a follow up review later and said they left it to air outside in a building and all of the smell went away and said they would buy it again. -
The problems as @kgg and others have said is true. I just a couple months ago got a 441 clone and have a little Singer for lite stuff. The Class 4s will run 138 thread but the problem always come down to is how much change over do you want to do every time you sew something different. If you for say have 207 thread in it and need to do a wallet interior that's 2 pieces of 2oz for a total of 4oz it's pretty tough to hide the knot in that thin of leather. So do you want to change everything over too and adjust to 138 to sew the interior and then change it all back. It's the reality of needing a "tweener" machine also but you'll love the Class 4 for everything else. The servo and speed reducer are a dream when using. I got the little Singer for under 100.00 so it's not a bank breaker for occasional use.
-
Something else nice about the heavier machines as @Wizcrafts mentioned is getting a speed reducer with the bigger machines for the torque through the thicker leather.

I was referring to Steve from Bedo's before he hammers on the soles.

If you zoom in you can see if the stamp looks like it either broke or gets clogged. I always look to see zoomed in on the finer details and noticed on parts and some not. Excellent work.
