Still trying to learn carving.
Burkhardt replied to gregintenn's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
First things first whatever you're using on your pictures sucks because when you try to zoom in to see better they actually get smaller. The reason I asked for a picture of your beveler is because when I started yours look like master pieces compared to mine. Problem was my beveler. If you're using a real flat beveler your not going to be able to get any depth and smooth lines. Your carving on the one above is on point. -
shoptalkmagazine January 10, 2023 at 7:40 pm When we acquired the magazine, we were given rights to sell all the books he sold. I’m unsure if we were given permission to reprint Dan’s book though. I’d have to look into it. That was a comment left as you can see so you might be able to get one eventually.

Can you take a picture of the angle and size beveler you're using? -

Are you free styling it or are you tracing a pattern? -
What i do on the ends when hand stitching is on the last stitch tie a knot on the last hole then pull the knot into the material then cut the ends off on the backside then burn the ends so the knots hidden and there's no double stitch..

I'd take that as a dream property. Thought mine would stay that way till the lady who said she would never sell the land for housing developments and about 40 houses later, so much for country living. -

Threading Juki TSC- 441, Cowboy, Cobra, Techsew
Burkhardt replied to kgg's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I looked for the destructions for mine and could only find the really blurry ones they emailed me. So I think I must have got some for mine when I got it cause there is no way I could've threaded from the emailed ones. I go through the guide pin(1 hole) and then to eyelet, around tension disc clockwise then back out the eyelet down to the next eyelet, around twice then back out the eyelet to the take up spring. Right or wrong it's how I threaded mine from day 1. -

Looking for Input on Machine Choices
Burkhardt replied to Rubicon04's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Something to consider is depending on the drop down guide are if the holes are in the machine and getting the bracket for it. I'm kind of on the fence about the table, I believe they might be on this site is the aluminum tops that have a fence that's adjustable that most people say is easier to take on and off than the wood one. I got the wood one then seen the other one is why. -
Regardless of their past, a big cushy bed and a bone to chew on and you get unconditional love forever.

Arizona style clutch wallet back

As weird as it is without a border I like it. The bargrounding done is just right with the black showing the background without needing a border. Looks good. -

And most important, the snaps snap. I like the heck out of the jig for shortening the posts. -
No that's what I was referring to (your piece), I've looked around the site a bunch of times and was never sure ordering something and not being what the picture looked. It's nice to know someone has been/ordered from them before now so I know it's not a shot in the dark.

Does it have a color like Herman Oak or almost white like some of the imports. It look more like HO in the pictures I looked at.

I think you made a smart buy @PastorBob. You didn't have to buy after spending the extra 335.00 as already stated above, but you then would spend 104.50 on the work platform size 24 needles for 20.90 size 23 needles for 20.90 148.50 for the stirrup plate 148.50 for the holster plate 137.50 for the blanket feet(from LMC) Heavy Duty Roller Edge Guide $104.50* A extra 685.30 on top of the 335.00. Be happy and proud of the smart buy and enjoy it. You'll get used to it and learn all the tricks and from the help of the video's (from that guy over there) to help along the way. Happy stitching

Cobra Class 4 - Which Presser Foot / Needle Plate?
Burkhardt replied to PastorBob's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
If you're using the flat bed try it without it on and let the belt hang a little vs keeping it totally flat.
