Hello, I have recently picked up a 29k71 (electric but using the hand crank) and I got it sewing cloth, finally. Although when im sewing anything over 1-2 oz veg tanned leather it does not move the leather with the foot. With a little push of the material it feeds kinda alright but if I stop applying pressure its back to not pushing enough and thats not the way its suppose to be so I would like to know whats wrong and get it fixed. I understand that these machines are old (I think mines from '64) and parts wear. Any help would be much appreciated. take care all! happy sewing!

Leader of my own company creating hand made leather helmet fronts for fire helmets. Out of Pennsylvania I receive calls all over the USA from firefighters wanting my product. I love doing this passion and there is nothing else in this world I'd rather do. Some shields are more challenging then others making it the perfect blend of different challenges. Hi and happy new year! I came across this leather shown in the picture. Any idea about what leather is it or the technique to achieve this two-tone look (tan + yellow)? Is it a tan leather painted with yellow (acrylic?) dye or some yellow leather dyed brown? Or some pull-up leather? Or a natural veg. tanned leather dyed with tan and yellow dyes at different areas? Any help with this mystery leather would be very appreciated!

Hello everyone, Firstly excuse my English it is not the best. I work with leather and have a question if anyone is able to help. I recieve from friend a old large intact python skin. It is dry, brittle and not in best condition but is it possible to treat for use in some project I have? Any information anyone can give me is big help to me because would be nice to use the skin and not let go to waste. Thank you all :)!

I’m just getting into working with veg tan and im have issues with it not dyeing evenly I’ve been using feibings stains/dyes and the instructions says something about using a cleaner before dyeing but it doesn’t say what the cleaner I should use? Or should I be using different dye?

Hi guys, Been going crazy trying to find a solution to printing on leather. I have a leather jacket I am interested in putting a graphic on the front and on the back. I've been reading some forums on here saying to use either the screen printing method or sublimation in order to get the image onto a leather jacket but is there another way thats possible? My graphics are very detailed images so I don't think screen printing would give me the result I'm looking for. I know it's possible though, as I've seen a lot more designers use some sort of method to transfer images onto their leather. I have been getting a lot of "no's" from companies saying the only real way is to have the print made before the jacket is, but is there another way to transfer an image? Would love your feedback and if anyone knows any companies that may be able to help!

Really an amazing collection of Weights, tanning methods colors and textures. Small scraps to whole hides, various species. I have seen lots of people who dye around areas that they are going to paint but Every time I try that it seems to be uneven. We usually spray the dye on and paint over but this sometimes leaves the paint not looking as bright. Does anyone have techniques for dyeing without the lighter and darker spots -
Hello all, I have a customer that dropped a belt off for me to extend 6-8". The question is, he doesn't want it to bulky. Is it best to do a straight cut and skive the ends of the belt and extension pieces to glue together? The belt is pretty plain and has no stitching or tooling. Also, is there a good method to try and match the dye? The belt is old and has some scuffs and scrapes on it. As the title suggest, I am in search of a leather/canvas expert to work with regarding a custom (old school) golf bag project. Interested parties should have the ability to mix multiple materials, be comfortable working with unique designs and with making suggestions in the design process to facilitate a better result. This build will be ground up, and will most likely demand an emphasis on the smaller details.The ability to work with and create intricate details is a big plus. A golfing background, or a familiarity with golf bags is also a big plus, but is by no means required. Please note that I am very laid back and easy to work with, but professionalism and solid communication skills are absolutely necessary for anyone interested. You must have the ability to work as part of a collaborative team. Please also make sure you actually have the time to complete the project. Hello guys, I have a pair of my favorite double monk strap shoes in light brown. Having visited an expert in the field,he told me that the shoes are made of "seal leather"(As I researched I understood that's just oiled leather? But I'm not sure about that). He also told me that this type of leather is undyeable meaning there is no way you can dye it effectively. Recently,I have been going out with my shoes and alcohol based drinks (Vodka,Whiskey,beer etc.) have been spilled on the shoes and for some reason I can not understand,this has left stains on the shoe. The help I need is how can I repair the shoes. One solution I have found is to dye the shoes darker brown(Which is cool by me) but first of all the expert said it is unattainable and second of all as I have understood different leather need different care methods,which is not my profession so I do not know what to do. Hey folks! I am having difficulty with getting a good bottom stitch for our leather products. I am finding that the top has a very even and good look with deep holes, but the bottom is coming out sort of rough and crappy looking. I don't think it's necessarily a tension issue, maybe the needle we are using? does anybody have a suggestion on how we can get this stitch look a bit more professional? Thanks!
