  1. You might like to tell people in Illinois where you are located. Tom
  2. Do a search here for rattlesnake skins or hides. There a a few members that catch and deal with them. Tom
  3. @Shananagan Where are you located in Idaho? Do you handle shipping? How long have you owned the machine? Please read the Marketplace rules and comply. https://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/70-announcements/ Tom
  4. Yup, gone for a few months now. Would like to have picked up a couple more. They went on sale, but ads didn't say they were being discontinued! Else would have gone to the store sooner. Tom
  5. When using magnets for closures, I place the magnets in holes punched in a piece of leather the same thickness as the magnets. Then glue that between the exterior and the lining leathers. (You can skive the outer edges to reduce the thickness if the transition is getting too bulky.) Then I don't need to sew around the magnets themselves. They will stay in place due to the three layers of construction. Only reason I can see for sewing a circle around magnets is for decoration, which I don't do. Tom
  6. You should be pushing down the items that are behind the items in front. So if a leaf comes out from under a flower, push the leaf down. (Bevel the items that are behind.) You are trying to do a 3D scene, so need to bring the foreground forward by bevelling (pushing) the background items down to do that. Tom
  7. I just junked a similar Brother machine. Give me the dimensions of the cover and I'll see if the piece I saved matches. Tom
  8. @Devo Moved your post to Leather Sewing Machines. You'll get more answers here. Have you tried any searches on ther web for this information? Have you searched this (Leather Sewing Machines) forum? Deleted your double post. Tom
  9. @LizO Moved your post to Leather Sewing Machines. Tom
  10. @JSage Please add a couple photos showing the front, rear, and presser foot area to help identify your machine. Any model numbers off a plate mounted on the machine, if any, would help too. Tom
  11. @MsChrissi This is a world-wide forum. You should update your profile with your location so members know whether to look at your machine or skip it because your are on Mars. According to your IP address, you appear to be located in the St. Charles, Missouri, USA area. Tom
  12. Really great work. I suppose that careful use of the swivel knife can do much the same as petal lifters, just can't reach as far under the petal. Tom
  13. After applying dye, let it dry 24 hours, buff off the dyed area until no more comes off, your white rag stays white. If you used Tandy's ecoflow stuff, it is water based and many solvents will loosen it up and mix with the solvent (that is in your paint). So as mentioned above, it may need to be sealed before adding the paint. Do some testing on a scrap piece of leather, same type as you are using. Tom
  14. Patchers are built for patching. Shoe uppers, and other light stuff. Main advantage is being able to sew in any direction as you can turn the presser foot 360 degrees. So can sew up a sleeve or boot top, etc. The teeth on the presser foot are aggressive as that is what drags the leather through the machine. No bottom feed dogs. A common usage is to sew badges, emblems, etc. on jackets without having to take half the jacket apart. Tom
  15. @Chrisie Moved your post to Marketplace. More chance of selling in that forum! Should identify if you are willing to ship etc. Read the marketplace rules here https://leatherworker.net/forum/forum/70-announcements/ Tom
  16. @TomSchell I moved your post to Leather Sewing Machines. You are more likely to get the help you want here. Tom
  17. It appears from your IP address that you are located in Golden Grove So Australia. You should add that to your profile so you can get responses that are more suitable for your location. Are you asking for vendors? If so you are probably more interested in an Australian source rather than USA, Europe or Mars. Tom
  18. See the following for info on resizing your photos. Tom
  19. You could put a post under business / estate sales. Tom
  20. Reduce the file size! See the following. This thread has several instructions and suggestions. Tom
  21. As mentioned in your other post, you should be posting for sale items in "marketplace". There is nothing in this post to "show Off". Tom
  22. @ScoobieYou should be posting for sale items in the "marketplace" forum. Pay special attention to the requirement for posting for sale items. Description, model number, photos, price, shipping, condition, etc. Tom
  23. Thick layers of paint or finish crack and flake off with continual flexing. Need to minimize the total thickness to avoid early failures. Tom
  24. Tandy has a suede / nubuck cleaner. https://www.tandyleather.ca/en/product/fiebing-s-suede-nubuck-cleaner?ip_lookup_country_id=CA&loadedFromCookie=1&session_id_token=d8eee6b6122de1c8e3e90b7a3a4c5d7f2e5e1ebf And a google search returns many possibles. https://www.google.com/search?q=cleaning+nubuck&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 Don't use something that will stain the skin. Dry type cleaning should be the best if it hasn't been stained with some sort of liquid. If stained with a liquid, you may have to treat the whole surface in order to maintain a consistent color. Tom
  25. @bruce johnson Can you provide some input here? Thanks Tom
