  1. That specific pattern, or just looking for any? https://www.tandyleather.ca/en/product/craftool-embossing-wheels https://www.springfieldleather.com/tools/Hand-Tools/Embossing-Wheels These are just a couple results from a google search. Tom
  2. @Randle P McMurphy Please post your location and your shipping information! That is one of the requirements of using "markertplace" Tom
  3. here is a video about thread, stitching irons, and needles with examples put together by Weaver Leathercraft (of which I have no association). Thought it might be useful to some of us. Tom
  4. @guntechholsters Moved your post to Leather Sewing Machines. More likely to get help here. Tom
  5. @Silverd Hey it's been quite a while without an update! I'd like to see how things have worked out for you, mostly out of general interest, and to help any others that may have been following this thread. I was looking through some info I had saved and came across this thread again. Way too late for me to get into doing any of this type of work, but I am inquisitive by nature. Maybe that's why I have too many things going on at the same time! @BigSiouxSaddlery FYI Tom
  6. Check out this thread and posts to see how to resize your photos so they will fit the size limitations here. https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/15122-how-to-post-pictures-on-lw/?do=findComment&comment=551171 600x800 pixels are adequate, 1024x768 would be a good size too. At these resolutions you can post many, many photos in the same post. You may use the gallery too and link to the gallery in your posts. To use the gallery, go to https://leatherworker.net/forum/gallery/# Pick the "add images" button and follow the prompts. You may create a new album for your photos if you wish. Tom
  7. @Tugadude has suggested we setup an area for stitching irons, etc. It fits under Sewing Leather, so rather than a whole new forum area, here it is. For this thread, its main purpose is to collect and provide information. Posts that go off topic will be removed. So a couple rules for this thread. Reviews and information should list manufacturer's names, locations and model or item description so they can be found by other members. A link to the company website would be fine. Don't link to a specific page, keep it at the top domain level so the link is less likely to be broken when someone decides to reorganize their website or offerings. Photos should be posted here, not on 3rd party sites (includes vendors sites). Tugadude has sent a PDF from Nigel at Armitage Leather to start this topic off. Armitage Stitching Iron Reviews.pdf Hope you enjoy checking out reviews, both this one, and future reviews and hope you will contribute your knowledge and experience to this thread. Tom
  8. Only moderators can move posts/threads. Tom
  9. check out the instructions/sites listed here Tom
  10. Time for a little experimentation. Try using a low angled raking light from one side to show up texture. https://www.dpmag.com/how-to/tip-of-the-week/lighting-for-texture-12-31-12/ https://www.learningwithexperts.com/photography/blog/understanding-lighting-direction There are more examples out there, especially landscapes, but the information applies here as well. Tom
  11. PM Johanna and remind her. Tom
  12. @FinelyWrought Moved it for you! Tom
  13. Do a search for custom metal stamps. This is one that turned up. You may find someone local that is making them. https://www.etsy.com/ca/market/custom_metal_stamp Tom
  14. @JeannieH Moved your post to Leather Sewing Machines. Likely to get quicker and more responses here. Tom
  15. Commercial outfits here require the customer to purchase the stamp and they can have it whenever they want if they go somewhere else. I have a stamp in my drawer that was loaned to me by such a customer, and they have never asked to have it back. They wouldn't know what to do with it! Tom
  16. Easy to do with a rasp or belt sander. Guess it depends on how beautiful you want the finished handle to look like. Might be difficult to match the original finish, but that's not the reason I buy a tool. Tom
  17. Happy to help. Easy to get lost here! Tom
  18. Nothing wrong with your photography! No hot spots, evenly lit, not over or under exposed. When I was doing a lot of photography many years ago, I bought a cheap twin-lens reflex camera simply because it had a 6x6 cm film format. When I compared photos of the same scene taken with the typical 35 mm SLR and the 6x6 format, I was astounded at how much more detail was available in the negatives and prints. So applying the same logic to digital cameras, need a large sensor, with high resolution, to achieve the same end. And set the camera to save large files. (Raw data is best, but not all cameras and software work together nicely. Takes more work.) The larger files should retain more of the finer detail. Then of course, how you print them or what monitor screen you are using can degrade the detail. Wonderful work! Tom
  19. @Davidgbaron Moved your post to Leather Sewing Machines. You'll most likely get answers here. Tom
  20. @KathrynH hasn't been back here since 2013. Tom
  21. Back off @JLSleather. Members don't appreciate your negativity. Getting several complaints. Tom
  22. And for general information, the posts were not deleted, but hidden from view of forum general members/users. If any legalities could arise, the posts are still here and could be used in court. Might require a subpoena to obtain it. So I would think twice about defaming or slandering anyone in your posts. Tom
  23. Using google or other search engines helps reduce the load on this server. These companies with billions $ can afford to index all the pages on sites like this, provide higher level faster searches and use all the common formatting to yield the performance and expectations that people have that servers should be able to do anything and everything in the blink of an eye. As mikesc points our, use google or other search engines "site:whatever-site whatever items" you are looking for. It's to your advantage, and to the advantage of other users here, to offload that stuff to the money people. Tom
  24. This is the reason and I have to say I agree with it. "Dissing one of our advertisers. The customer has a vendetta with Techsew." You were not willing to identify the problems as asked to by several members that could have promoted a fair discussion. There is no need for this type of behavior. We need to be fair and well behaved in our discussions rather than promoting dissent amongst our members, visitors, and the vendors that support this site through their advertising. Whether you diss members, supporting vendors, or other vendors, it is not appreciated by most of the members here. Tom
  25. This rant has gone on long enough. I'm getting complaints about these types of rants, so lets keep it down a little. This thread is now locked. Tom
