  1. This^^ Aquilim 315 is like Barge/Weldwood but will keep you married if you use it in the house. I still like Barge and Weldwood, but similar bond strength without toxic fumes...the choice is pretty easy. Another plus for Aquilim for me is that it seems a bit easier to work with and doesn't get all stringy. It may take a minute or too longer to get tacky but no fumes wins that debate for me too. It's all I use now too with Barge/Weldwood being my backups in case I can no longer get Aquilim.
  2. So you're saying I need to hurt my hand/s to get stitches that nice then? Yeah, me too @chrisash. I struggle to get one side looking good and I do this nearly everyday and without a hand injury!
  3. I've never thought of this before but how does thread do on those things? Forgive my ignorance, I don't even know if firefighters wear the radio into fires. I'd figure that thread would be one of the first things to go all melty in a fire. Is there nomex thread? How does a comms system hold up in a fire? Sorry, I'd never thought of designing any leather thing for such a ridiculously harsh environment before. Great looking stap, btw!
  4. We are just going to have to ride it out and see what the new normal is going to look like. I've been finishing up the list I've been working on and getting a few things made for myself that I've wanted.
  5. Welcome! Looks as good as Chuck's ute knife sheath
  6. I think they look fine. I'll need to grab some next time I'm buying fasteners and give them a try. Thanks for the recommendation.
  7. I bet those sell pretty well. I'm not sure if you get them or not but I get newsletters from Weaver and Montana both and they are still fulfilling orders for the time being in case you do need more supplies.
  8. YouTube has a lot of information on how to boost your online business presence. Spend a little time on there. Some leather folks have leather specific videos as well. I do like the idea @chrisash tossed out there too.
  9. I like the clashing thread too. Is it white or pink? Either way I think the contrast pops really well.
  10. Don Gonzalez has a bunch of videos where he is bar grounding a good bit. Check him out on YouTube, you are bound to learn something. I learn pretty well by watching and got a bit more consistent with bar grounding from watching him and then practicing. I was amazed at how fast bar grounding goes when you get the feel of it. But! There's always a "but" isn't there? Bad bar grounding looks like complete hell, so getting good at it is important compared to regular matting/backgrounding.
  11. Great idea for a buckle source. I'm always amazed at how crappy "production" belts are made. Clever ways implemented to defraud people from their money.
  12. Excellent work Sir. I look forward to picking up info from you as time goes on!
  13. I use 3/4 oz leather and it works fine. I think that is ~1.2 mm. They do tend to get a bit bulky if doing a bigger wallet but with some efficient construction and skiving it doesn't seem too big a deal. I guess optimally 3/4 oz for the outer shell and 2/3 for inner. I wouldn't go too much thinner than that or you'll run into the lack of resiliency that cheaper/mass produced wallets have in spades.
  14. All looks great @Rossr! I have a few old files I've broken the temper on but have yet to do anything with. It's on the list..
  15. Great photo work! I like the mitts too.
  16. Another vote for Aquilium 315. Same reasons as the others, no fumes, and you don't have to worry about the wife or blowing up the house. Seems to hold as well as Weldwood.
  17. All I can say is to watch YouTube like it isn't going to be there tomorrow. Dieselpunk.ro is a great resource for bags and his patterns are pretty cheap. You will likely need to make a few off of some patterns before you start making your own so you can see where the "gotchas" are and such. He isn't the only resource but he is great for bags and patterns. Also, if you pick apart all the different threads here on LW you will see a lot about lining and stuff as well, which Tony doesn't have a lot of info on. Another also, keep asking questions on here too.
  18. Another beautiful display of aesthetics and craftsmanship Sir. I love that brown with the white stitching.
