  1. Take it apart, clean it, add some conditioner, turn it inside out, then sew the two halves together, then when done fit a string piece of glued heavy canvas over the seam and about a inch overlap. Turn out the correct way and refit over the foam Clean and condition the other seat
  2. I find the circular action of my 29K to be very natural and easy, with no force applied, Therefore I wonder what are the advantages of a pull/ push setup which looks very notchy and not a natural action, but to be fair I have never tried one, but assume you would soon tire on the Pull/push action
  3. Myself I find the cheap ones on Etsy or ebay are ok , the ones that fit under tour knees, which means I can also swivel around to get the best light if needed, but whatever you chose they will be fine
  4. If you have a single iron then somewhere not obvious just insert a slightly smaller stitch, nobody will notice, If needed to two seperate ones
  5. As relatively small time bit players, Leatherworker companies need to put machine costs into perspective, Larger companies feel nothing about spending £20-30k on buying a car for the sales rep and changing it for a new one after say 3 years, I spent £44K on a Barudan embroidery machine (7 colour 12 head) in 1990 and another 6 head about a year later at not that much lower cost. Chinese companies are some of the worlds leaders in using high tech machines to help keep skilled labour costs down even though their labour is still far cheaper than many other countries
  6. There are quite a few places that sell economy leather which is veg tan leather that is good for practice and some smaller projects but either the leather is marked or a few holes in it making it not fit for many people to use for quality, in the Uk for instance J woods selles economy leather full shoulder and cheeks about 13-17 square feet at £2.55 per square foot Whilst this is economy leather you can still dye it etc and use it to make wallets, knife sheaths, etc The other option I used when I started was to contact local upholstery factories in my case car seat makers and get free chrome leather offcuts with tiny mark's highlighted in chalk where they were deemed not of a good enough standard in that area Also for Offcuts Ebay is your friend for both veg tan or chrome, also veg tan bellies are low cost Good luck and I suggest you enter your area in the profile to as a minimum say what country you are in PS there may be a Tandy shop close by you
  7. I guess that's what they said in 1790 it will never take off, we dont need sewing machines 1790: The First Detailed Design The history of the sewing machine & who invented it essentially starts here. Englishman Thomas Saint designed the first sewing machine of its kind. The patent described a machine powered with a hand crank to be used for leather and canvas. Nobody knows if Saint built a prototype, but in 1874, William Newton Wilson found the patent drawings. They were so detailed, he built a replica, proving that it did work.

  17. When I started a Embroidery company in 2003 the cost of converting a company logo to digital format for the embroidery machines was £100 and upwards depending on complexity and number of stitches (nowadays i used to get them made in India at £5) What we offered is the customer paid the cost of the conversion, but the digital format belonged to them , so that if they wanted to use another embroidery company they could request the copy back as they had paid for it You could do the same the customer pays for the stamp and you just use it but it belongs to them
