  1. Hi Folks OK a free STL file for those of you with a 3D printer note it takes about 15 hours to print and should hold 2 round knifes each up to 5 inches I am out of filament at present so not printed it out yet, If its ok will consider doing 7 inch version if requested Round Knife table stand.stl
  2. Denatured alcohol in the UK appears to be methylated spirit and coloured blue, does this colour effect the dye colour or is there another version of denatured alcohol? Is Surgical spirits the same
  3. Thanks Billy, The notch would not be a problem, can you advice on the maximum thickness of the blades and also the distance from the where the handle joins the blade to the cutting edge in the centre of the head, very easy to make a large as well as a long version, from what i have seen on the UK sites 5 inch seems to be the most common with quite a few at 4 1/2 or 4
  4. Good evening folks To start with I do not have a round knife so have had to make a guess on sizes required Had a though on what to make in 3D and came up with this design to hold your round knives when you are working rather than just lay them down, just a simple idea with dimensions of 150mm length for the knife holder main body with about 4mm slots in the knife gaps and a height of 60mm Before I proceed with a sample I would like the thickness of average round knife blade and also height from top of head to the start of the handle so i can adjust my measurements Assuming the thickness of the handle will hold the knife above the bottom of the holder so not blunt it
  5. I am always amazed by the prices some people charge for quite normal products like wallets, belts and pouches etc, whilst retail outlets sell many similar items at a maybe 50% or less of the artisan worker charges, with often little or no difference in quality and often the retail outlet has better finish, but presumably lower prices caused by mass manufacturing and bulk buying. I assume that it must be near impossible for artisans to make a living doing just one or two items at a time and great effort in selling, by living I mean in the UK the minimum wage currently £8.21 per hour. I think the living wage whatever that is , is about £10.50 per hour
  6. Glad you like it, hopefully the time is only once in a lifetime
  7. Its a big ask, but if you have a length of steel tube to extend the handle it might work Dont forget to make the surface slightly wet first and then when it returns to original colour try the press, don't saturate the leather just one or two wipes with a wet sponge
  8. JLS Whilst i have not tried this software, it may be the thing you are looking for with a free trial and very low price Its a 2D drawing and cad package which will accept both PDF and PSD files and also export both types so you can simply copy your sketch data into this software and export in many formats Most 2D cad type software is very easy to make basic drawings like most leather designs https://www.nchsoftware.com/drawpad/index.html?kw=simple 2d drawing software&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIp_aEiuD95AIVUtHeCh1cfQ4lEAMYASAAEgLi0fD_BwE
  9. That's a very nice offer, unfortunately i have no need for that pattern, but a very nice gentleman for offering
  10. Thats a great idea fred something like CRAFTAID sheets, I would imagine they would last a fair amount of time for repeats as well, though you would need to check how wide the nozzle is as they may print a very thick line
  11. Agreed, but OP was looking at cheap stamps, which must mean cheaper than Tandy, and only real choice is to get them made in the far east or negotiate with Tandy, I cannot see a US maker doing them less than Tandy
  12. For the numbers of each type of stamp , it would be hard to beat Tandy's price and no doubt they would give you a good discount for a large order That BK and others charge four times the price or more gives some idea that its not a cheap option to have them made unless serious quantities ordered or long established firm, Yes i know bk and the likes looks for higher profit, but i guess sell far lower sales numbers in stamps
  13. I dont know the availability of that part, some parts are no longer available, but there was a post a year or more ago on this forum about a guy completely stripping a 29k and using thin slivers of brass to bring that part back to original size
  14. Could that notch be a screwdriver blade?
  15. You can check what one you have here http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/model-list/classes-1-99.html
  16. Hi Nikos and welcome to the forum It may be better to cut the leather larger than required and then after stitching, trim the edge to the correct size
  17. As Promised here is the Eco-Flow holder STL file free to use but not commercially as copyright C J Ashdown Suggested use PLA Eco-Flo 130ml anti spill stand.stl
  18. Just made a holder for the fiebings 440ml dye's that should give some protection on knocking the dye over when the dye is open, it includes a spill area Should make a Eco Flow one for Friday size 130ml Note printing should take about 6 hours in PLA Free to download the STL file Copyright C J Ashdown Fieberg anti spill tray v2.stl
  19. 8% of US americans have a licence for concealed weapons that means 92% do not feel the need and happy not to carry, must say something
  20. Most chisels and pricking irons these days are built much stronger than older versions, and are happy to punch right through average veg tan so you dont need a awl
  21. Only just seen this thread and must say I admire your skills in making the bag and also your lateral thinking to come out with such a novel design, I can see you having a great design lifetime ahead as few can have the ability to come out with something entirely original like you
  22. You can make your own by cutting up old ice cream boxes, not tried it but heard others who have mention them
  23. So sorry I tried to help you, the information i gave you plus the video shows how you can recreate the gun by digitising the image either scanned or photo and if you don't want to recreate the image you can automatically using the same software produce drawings with or without measurements showing the three views at whatever scale you need You could also do this when a customer brings in a article or gun, take the three images and some basic measurements and produce your own plastic copy and let the customer take his gun home with him Maybe you are not very good at explaining what you need, maybe explain what you are trying to achieve, and you do come across as rather abrasive to people trying to answer your query
  24. Very interesting, what sort of soles are you going to use andare you following instructions from any tutorial of just your own idea
  25. Do the bottom of the tube with thick veg tan inner layer to keep it stiff at the bottom Top use extra length so you can roll down the opening for closure and a couple of velcro straps that go from half way down the front and long strips of velcro running up the back, so when rolled up the straps fit onto the back strips
