  1. Hi, Such astonishing work. I noticed the fonts on the initials were unique. Was that a special stamp set or did you make your own? ~JL
  2. I"ve quickly found that no one would ever pay enough for the time for a project like this. It is, indeed, a labor of love. And for me, it's just a hobby...it's just a hobby...it's just a hobby...it's just a hobby...... Looks great! ~JL
  3. Were those lines penciled in or did you use a scratch awl? Whatever you used they are very nice neat lines.
  4. Very cool. I like the contrast! One day I'll get brave and try this out.
  5. wow, coming from a vet such as yourself, I appreciate the comment. RESPECT! Yea, I see his other posts but I'm stuck behind a dadgum computer all day and it's tough to break away. I checked out his art carving and it is so cool. For anyone out there who is on the fence about Mr. Lennels work, I bought a couple of his art carving lesson videos and here is giving it away. Dude is a legend and a treasure! I like to listen to his stories, too!
  6. Wow, that is such a cool design! I could see how this could easily be a themed set. Great job!
  7. Thought I had the dye. I tried to find the light brown color but couldn't find it, anywhere so I got the medium brown and I'll see how it looks when I thin it down. Here is where I am so far. I noticed the name I stamped in could've used a border, and I have some more practicing to do with my basket weave but I still excited about how it'll turn out. When it gets finished up, I'll post. Constructive criticism welcome. thanks. ~JL
  8. Cool. Did you tool the brown one? Or did it come with that imprinted design? I like that color
  9. Hi, I like the colors on that bag. Very rugged looking just right for the construction industry. I bought some pull up leather from Tandy, a dark chocolate brown and made ID badge holder using a template from Makers Leather and he showed how he used double-sided tape. I think it turned out really nice considering it was my first time with that kind of leather. (I practiced on some other scraps). I wanted to make some badge holders for my co-workers but wanted to see and feel other colors (they're so expensive!). I can wait until they lift they open back up. Still gotta working on my stitching, though. I live in Pearland, by the way.
  10. That's what I've been doing!! I'm going to start dying today! ...as soon as I finish wondering around here...
  11. Hi all. I've been following his first class in late March. I try to put in a little bit every night after WFH. I'm ready to start dying today and I'm super excited. I've really enjoyed watching a master and his stories are a lot of fun. What a legend. JL
  12. Wow this looks super duper great! I have a question about your dye process, if you're willing to help out a noob. I'm guessing you dyed the whole thing and then applied a resist and then did the British Tab antique paste? or did you dye just the outer part and protect your carving as a separate step? Hope I made sense. Thanks in advance. ~JL
  13. wow, like the color combos. Is that Alligator skin?
  14. I was wondering why my bargrounding wasn't making a great impression. (sorry for the pun) I thought it was me just not used to it and still being a novice. I think I'm doing it right and have pretty good results with other generic bar grounders but now Ima thinking about upgrading to BK's bar grounders. I have his bevelers and they do make a difference. And so you're right. You will get what you pay for!
  15. yea, dig that sewing job on the front. It makes it really stand out. And the tooling is most excellent!
  16. Just curious but wouldn't the bounce come from the table? I mean, if the table needs some adjustment so that it wouldn't 'wiggle'? I have to do some 'unwiggling' myself; in fact, the wife said I need to start thinking about where I can move everything away from the kitchen table....but that's another story for a different day!
  17. @thefanninator: WHOA!! mop and glow? never would've thought! @cmbtsmrf for someone who even 'rushed through it' you did a good job. And a sign of a good learner is someone who can reflect on what went wrong and how they could do better next time and also be willing to accept constructive criticism. me, being a total noob, is just sponging things up and hope to get creative during the holiday break!
  18. I dig the design. Simple yet elegant. And the color combo is a match! Well done!
  19. But when you're in the whiskey barrels, do you really look at the clock? LOL! Looks like I was looking at the end of a whiskey barrel. Very nice!

    Messin' around

Holy smokes! Still a spongey noob here. Is that acrylic paint? If so, what is name brand?
  21. Wow, I really dig that reel case. Pretty slick.
