  1. I totally see your point. And, I was never one to profess the awesomeness of the Boss. But, one day I was schooled here by such a person. The big advantage of this machine outside of portability, and off gridability, is the capability of clearance. These machines boast ¾-⅞" lift. That is a lot for the price you will pay. Now, I don't need that much capacity, but it is nice to see an option well below 2 grand if I did. P.S. I'm all about that same 3200 when I can get it.
  2. I couldn't say. I haven't tried either machine. But, I could say that maybe that was the idea behind it being built.
  3. Check to see if you have any craft fares in your area.
  4. HaHa! Shipping on a cow would be outrageous.
  5. Most of my edgers are the Tandy craftool pro. I have to say I haven't had a problem with them. They sharpen up pretty good and seem to hold their edges well. One thing I feel I have to mention, of all the tools I have, that handle is absolutely the most comfortable. It really feels good in the hand.
  6. I know where you are coming from. But once you have it, you will know what a great deal it was. I promise, you won't ever miss that $ 260.00.
  7. This like all of your pieces is amazing.
  8. Sadly, it wasn't until I was a few years in before I heard about that process. I learned it from @NVLeatherWorx. Even more sadly, he doesn't come around here anymore. He is one of those virtual fountains of knowledge.
  9. Al Stohlman's "Leather Cases vol II" has several brief case patterns, and a lot more.
  10. Plenty of talented ladies here. And glad to have another. Welcome aboard.
  11. The last thing I did was awhile ago. But I tried 3m M90 spray adhesive. It worked really well. Also, the dissipation of the fumes was much faster than with contact cement.
  12. Keep it up, it's all looking good. Din Gonzales has a really good video on antiqueing leather.
  13. Somethings you just have to eventually bite the bullet and buy. Once you have, you wonder how you managed without them.
  14. The Tandy knife doesn't have enough carbon in the steel to allow it to stay sharp. That's what I was told by (hate to keep beating the dead horse) Terry Knipschield. I have had two of them. Both bought used in a bulk buyout. The first I did get sharp (didn't last thru 5 minutes of cutting). The second is still in the package. Shoot nigel@armitageleather an email. He may know of a decent affordable knife on your side of the pond.
  15. @charon, not offended at all. I was just sharing information. And I can completely relate. I buy lots of stuff from Wuta leather. And all my decent edc knives are from Kizer. China does have some quality items these days. I think the American businesses kept them from sending quality into the States for as long as they could. 30 years ago all people could do was hit a price point for a distributor. Now, in the world of the internet, Chinese companies like Wuta, Ks, Crimson Hide, and Kizer can sell directly to a consumer. That is a game changer. And back to our other side topic, until we can make the East deflate their currency to a realistic world value, they will always be cheaper than the west. So, that is why the items and shipping are cheaper. The import duties and taxation of imported goods is the other hurdle.
  16. Well, I can attest to their not being import or customs fees coming into the United States. This has been a one way street for a long time. President Trump talks of how it should have been addressed decades ago. Our allies want to send us goods but won't take ours. We lost 800 billion dollars last year in trade deficits. 500 of which went to China. Not trying to start a debate or anything, it's just not a fair worldwide market. I can still see the shipping being the same as Americans are paid more, but the taxes and custom duties are just restraining.
  17. The leather dye and pro dye don't seem very different to me. They are both spirit based. However the regular dye tends to leave a metallic sheen that has to be buffed away. The other products I don't have any experience with.
