My first attempt at a bag
battlemunky replied to stormcrow's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Solid and beautiful. I'd be proud carrying that and even more proud if I built it myself. -
Chinks .... Just off the bench
battlemunky replied to dfrensdorff's topic in Clothing, Jackets, Vests and Chaps
Looks nice to me! I know nothing of chinks though so there could be a million technical issues but I think those look just fine. -
A wing divider or a groover with the blunt blade will make the groove on the loop. As far as the rivet goes, I guess it would depend on the shank size of the rivet. I think if your stitches are far enough apart you could likely wiggle a rivet in between a stitch and then set the rivet. I'd keep an eye on the seam on the inside to make sure everything set fine.

If you can't find it raw, the garden section at your local home improvement store has the kneeling pads.

Monogrammed 1911 Holster
battlemunky replied to IngleGunLeather's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Your shading is so even on the edges of your carving. Damn fine work as usual man! Absolutely beautiful. -
That is bad ass! I agree, you do some good work.

Dürkopp 18 Patcher Restoration - long journey...
battlemunky replied to Constabulary's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Wow! Really cool following along with the restore. Thanks for doing so, both saving the machine and showing us the journey. -
Yeah....great "attempts" you've made there. That cow skull flies off the background and that EGA is amazing. Keep at it and with another minute and a half of practice, you'll be there!

+1000 on the lockers, even if its just the rear to begin with. A locking diff makes a Jeep damn near unstoppable, two definitely does. Its almost like cheating.

I say armor as well. Make some scaled armor. The LARPers and RenFaire crowd will eat that stuff up.

My first wallet
battlemunky replied to kiems's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Yeah, for a first go at it, you made a great wallet. It looks like you did get a little contamination on it but that doesn't matter to me, just need to be careful with iron and dyes. Your stitching looks out-damn-standing compared to my first piece. I think Doc Frankenstein did a better job on the monster than I did on my first piece. Nice edges too! -
You can also google local Jeep clubs in your area and you'll quickly find that many Jeepers are super helpful and you can have help spending your money. I had a 2010 JKU Rubi. It is the car love of my life. Everything about it was awesome except the fuel economy. 3.5" AEV lift and 32" tires, a few other mods too. Just Empty Every Pocket!

Damn it man! DId it again. Super cool design and really well executed.

I dunno man, thats gonna be a butt ton of work all by hand. I won't hold it against you if you use power tools, especially if you add some other materials into the stack.

I was going to suggest searching for "stacked leather knife handles" too. The cool thing about having such a long run is that you can do all sorts of cool crap along the way. Get some antler, micarta (making your own is a breeze), acrylic, different hardwoods, anything sandable really, and you can stack them in along the way. Please take some pics along the way because this is gonna be cool.

Prada-inspired Handbag

That is really well done. I like the edges undyed.
