Looks like a nice space! Wish I had a garage to be able to move my gear out of my bedroom. -
Welcome aboard! Always great to have new participants, the more the merrier.

Since no one has posted a link yet, here it is: https://www.ranch2arena.com/collections/horse-shoe-brand-tools I’ve never seen his stuff in person but it looks nice on the site.

How to get your products to sell well
Retswerb replied to RockyAussie's topic in Marketing and Advertising
A couple of interesting folks in this thread who don’t hang around here anymore. @mikesc hasn’t posted since Spring. @robs456, you still around at all? I’d be curious to hear a follow up to this thread if so. -
Not a sticky but this thread has lots of good info about laser selection: A couple of mentions there about using the laser for engraving and the possibility of marking he back side rather than the front so the char marks don’t show on the final work. I have no personal experience but would think it could be a great fit for watch straps or other small pieces in particular.

Great work as usual. I’d love to see this a year from now, it will have an awesome patina I imagine.

Mass production of wallets using laser engraver
Retswerb replied to chrisash's topic in 3D Printers and Lasers
The stitching sucks, and that’s a shame since otherwise he’s made a fairly nice wallet. I’d have gone with one laser design per wallet instead of four, but that’s a matter of personal taste and I have no doubt these will find a market. Overall I’d say if you don’t like the look of laser engraved leather then the ‘3D printers and lasers’ sub-forum is probably going to disappoint you. -
This is awesome, @EdJ. Thanks for bringing us along through the process! This obviously isn’t your first rodeo, with a project requiring a fairly diverse set of skills and knowledge. Once you’ve walked us through this one I’d love to see more of your work.

Interesting. Maybe someone at Tandy is finally evaluating what market demands they’re not supplying.

Newbie interested in getting into leatherworking

Welcome aboard, Richard! This site is a tremendous resource full of helpful people, you’ve come to the right place. Leather working is a broad topic, the advice and tools you need depend greatly on what areas you’re interested in. Give us a little more info to understand what you’d like to do: wallets, bags, shoes, horse tack, sheaths, hand sewn, machine sewn, figure carving, painted - give us an idea of what you’d like to make and we can help point you in the right direction. -
This is great. Love the additional ideas of double pins and the target, super simple and effective.

Would love some help with a startup :)

@chrisash’s reply may not have answered the question you asked but was probably what many were thinking. What tools to buy depends entirely on the goods you’re looking to produce and the market you’ve identified to buy those goods. Give us some more info, and show that you’ve done your legwork. You will find multiple lifetimes’ worth of wisdom here from plenty who are happy to share.
