    Collection of Haunts

Those are fun. I like the simplicity of the silhouette style.
  2. Looks like a nice space! Wish I had a garage to be able to move my gear out of my bedroom.
  3. Welcome aboard! Always great to have new participants, the more the merrier.
  4. Since no one has posted a link yet, here it is: https://www.ranch2arena.com/collections/horse-shoe-brand-tools I’ve never seen his stuff in person but it looks nice on the site.
  5. Ok, I’ll ask the dumb question since I’ve never used anything solid like this: how do you apply it? Does it have to be reheated to apply?
  6. Totally! Just make sure to show us the finished result.
  7. Looks great regardless. I just picked up my first stamps from him, looking forward to trying them out.
  8. A couple of interesting folks in this thread who don’t hang around here anymore. @mikesc hasn’t posted since Spring. @robs456, you still around at all? I’d be curious to hear a follow up to this thread if so.
  9. Wow somebody has a whole ‘nother world of picnics than what I’ve ever experienced! Really nice work, thanks for sharing!
  10. Not a sticky but this thread has lots of good info about laser selection: A couple of mentions there about using the laser for engraving and the possibility of marking he back side rather than the front so the char marks don’t show on the final work. I have no personal experience but would think it could be a great fit for watch straps or other small pieces in particular.
  11. Great work as usual. I’d love to see this a year from now, it will have an awesome patina I imagine.
  12. The stitching sucks, and that’s a shame since otherwise he’s made a fairly nice wallet. I’d have gone with one laser design per wallet instead of four, but that’s a matter of personal taste and I have no doubt these will find a market. Overall I’d say if you don’t like the look of laser engraved leather then the ‘3D printers and lasers’ sub-forum is probably going to disappoint you.

    Horse Buggy Completed

This is awesome, @EdJ. Thanks for bringing us along through the process! This obviously isn’t your first rodeo, with a project requiring a fairly diverse set of skills and knowledge. Once you’ve walked us through this one I’d love to see more of your work.
  14. Interesting. Maybe someone at Tandy is finally evaluating what market demands they’re not supplying.
  15. Welcome aboard, Richard! This site is a tremendous resource full of helpful people, you’ve come to the right place. Leather working is a broad topic, the advice and tools you need depend greatly on what areas you’re interested in. Give us a little more info to understand what you’d like to do: wallets, bags, shoes, horse tack, sheaths, hand sewn, machine sewn, figure carving, painted - give us an idea of what you’d like to make and we can help point you in the right direction.
  16. This is great. Love the additional ideas of double pins and the target, super simple and effective.
  17. In my experience people may not be expecting the zig zag stitch but if it is done well they love it. If anyone questions it you can say it’s a sign of handmade stitching done with skill and care.
  18. Did you hammer your stitches flat once you were done? That can help the overall presentation of your stitching lines too. Keep going, learn from each piece and improve as you go - but these that you’ve made are lovely gifts.
  19. How much are you charging for shipping to the US?
  20. Beautiful! You’re giving him an excellent, meaningful gift - nicely done.
  21. @chrisash’s reply may not have answered the question you asked but was probably what many were thinking. What tools to buy depends entirely on the goods you’re looking to produce and the market you’ve identified to buy those goods. Give us some more info, and show that you’ve done your legwork. You will find multiple lifetimes’ worth of wisdom here from plenty who are happy to share.
