  1. I regrettably popped out the entire bobbin ensemble. I put it back in as best as I could remember it and was able to sew away for a while. Now, the upper thread keeps getting caught in and under the bobbin. I must have put the three bobbin parts back in incorrectly. Everything else is unchanged and looks okay. What is the name for the piece I am holding in the picture? The one I wish I never took out of the machine.. Can you tell me the correct orientation of this piece, and thus the bobbin basket, while the needle is at its highest position? The needle reaches its highest position on my machine when the handcrank is at exactly 12:00. Where should the crescent on the piece in the picture be at this point? If you could provide a photograph, that would be extremely helpful!

  3. I'm selling my Cobra NP-4 skiver with servo motor, including table with wheels for $1,000 or best offer. I would keep it but unfortunately, I need to make room in my already-too-small apartment for the upcoming arrival of our first son. I've only used the skiver 3 or 4 times, for a total of less than 1-2 hours, so it's practically new and pretty quiet. I have the original box it came in as well. Pickup only in San Francisco.
  4. I am selling my Cobra Class 4-P. I bought it just under a year ago. Other things have caught my attention and I hardly use it now. It has less then 48 hours of work put on this Great machine. I really don't want to get rid of it, but for the last two or three months I have not used it. Slow business and other hobbies are the reason I'm selling it. I am located in Daleville, Alabama. About 25 minutes west of Dothan. I would prefer the buyer to pick this machine up. I will drive up to an hour. As of right now, I'm not shipping it. I'm asking $2,600. $2,500 if you come pick it up. I have attached the Craigslist posting here> http://dothan.craigslist.org/for/5815551328.html
  5. Hi all. Just picked up a cheap Pfaff 1445 in so so condition. I regret not doing enough research to discover that it's apparently a somewhat rare machine with few compatible parts. Does anyone have the operator manual (not the service manual)? I'm aware kwokhing.com for presser feet. Are there any other compatible feet available? How about service parts?
  6. I bout the machine "like new" last March, and it still is...I used it only twice to practice stitching a belt, but then life kinda got hectic and never got around to using it again. Then, from Texas, I moved to Alabama and the machine has been stored this whole time...and yes, It is fully assembled, you can see it run and test it out before purchase. Ok, as for price....I have 3 options for you to consider... 1. $2700, my price of the machine INCLUDING my whole investment of merchandise for my attempted leather business (lol), which values at approx. $3500-$4000 at least..ALL purchased from Tandy Leather......THIS consists of NEW HUGE spools of thread*, NEW dyes and some used bottles of different color dyes, conditioner/gloss, NEW tools (multiple size punches, riveting kits, jewel setters, marker, hand carver, etc) , NEW conchos, jewels, eyelets, NEW belt buckles, LOTS of NEW UNUSED RAW leather belts, NEW belt loops AND tips, NEW packages of daubbers, 3/4" ALPHABET LETTER Leather punch set, guides, and maybe something I'm missing but whatever it is, its included! lol 2. $2500, price of the machine, spools of thread, and I will allow you to pick a few other things you might immediately need...To be discussed 3. $2250 machine only, and yes, the thread...I wouldn't want to sell you a machine without AT LEAST having that to get started *If I cannot find the thread at that moment, I WILL send it to you...Off hand, at this very moment, I can't recall where it is stored but I do have them Please consider these options and let me know how you feel, I do want to let it go, for someone else to use and benefit from so once you contact me, we can talk and see what will better accommodate each other because I have other business venture plans as well love... thank you for your time! Hope to speak with you soon!!! #GodBless
  7. Leather tools and Accessories for sale! ALSO a SPECIAL EDITION Tech Sew 5100 Heavy Duty Leather Stitching Machine!
  8. Hello, I am a new member here. I am a new shoemaker based in France and I need to buy a sewing machine to sew the shoes upper. I have experience with post bed one needle sewing machine. I learned to used it in Shoemaking school and when I was in Indonesia. Now I need a sewing machine to work here in France. I don't have a huge budget and I have been looking around for used post bed sewing machine but they are all too expensive for me. I am thinking to buy something cheap first like vintage SINGER sewing machine 99k and when I got money I buy the post bed machine. But I'm afraid it won't work well. I am thinking to get me vintage SINGER 29K but then it doesnt have roller foot, and I don't have experience in stitching upper with walking foot. Now I found a flat bed sewing machine from SIECK that seems good, the price is still a bit high but I can cope with it, it is PFAFF Kl. 143-4 single needle flat bed sewing machine with motor 220v and roller foot. This PFAFF machine cost me 612,5 euros already included VAT and shipping. But it is still a flatbed, I have experience stitching upper on a flatbed is not really that easy but I can cope with it. I still need your advice about this. The question is, should I buy vintage machine like SINGER 29k, or sewing machine like SINGER 99k (I saw this can sew leather too), or this PFAFF 143-4 sewing machine? My work is mostly women shoes. Here I attached one of my work for example. I am using soft not thick leather. Thank you so much for your time. Earlene A. Agripina www.earlenechen.wix.com/myleatherworld
  9. I hope this is the correct area to post this. I am selling my Cobra AK-20 Strap cutting machine for $1800. I bought it new and it works great. It has 8 cutting blades. I have probably used it a dozen times. I don't really use it anymore and it is taking up room. I am located in Temple, Texas. Please respond to this if you are interested. Thank you and God bless.
  10. Here is a link to my CL ad http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/tls/5658472155.html I'm more than happy to send more photos and answer any questions. I'll also offer a discount to this group only. $800. I prefer pickup here in Cincy. I will travel as far as 100 miles to meet someone. Columbus, Louisville, Indianapolis, Dayton, Lexington etc. Thanks, Andy
  11. After much debate I have decided to try and sell my Ludwig 205-370 heavy duty cylinder arm leather stitcher. Due to time constraints from my job I am just not doing enough leather work anymore to justify keeping it and I could really use the room in my shop, so I will sadly let it go. This machine is an exact copy of the Adler 205-370 and operates just as smoothly as the actual Adler I tried at Weaver Leather. It is in fantastic condition and has no issues. If you're not familiar with this model, they will do everything one of the 441 / "Class 4" machines will do and run smoother while doing it. The machine includes a swing-away edge guide, an adjustable height table/stand, auto-bobbin winder, speed reducer, and a quality servo motor. I have a few different presser feet and feed dogs for it, several packages of needles, a few spools of bonded nylon thread, and several bobbins. I also have the Weaver timing device and digital copies of the Adler manuals. I am asking $1,500.00 for the machine and all the accessories I have for it. It would be a tremendous effort to break this thing down and crate it to ship because it's HEAVY and BIG, so I would really prefer local pickup. However, if someone is willing to pay for the effort required to ship it I am willing to do the work as a last resort. I am located near Huntington, WV. Feel free to ask any questions you have about it or if you'd like to see any other pictures. I am not in a bind or "needing" to sell it in any way, so I'm not going to accept any low-ball offers. If I can't get within reason of what it is worth for it, I'll just cover it up and keep it. If interested you can message me here, email me at evandailey@suddenlink dot net, or call or text at 304-six33-489two.
  12. Rare Fortschritt Leather Skiving Machine - Fortuna Type $1000 This is a very rare german made leather skiving machine. It cuts a wide range of skives because it has a long curved presser foot that can be adjusted a number of ways to get different angles and widths. The machine is in excellent working shape, see a sample skive photo below. There is cosmetic wear as this is an old machine. If you want a machine with great bones and a great history, this is what you are looking for. I purchased this a couple years ago from a leatherworker in Nyack, NY. He owned it since the mid 70s but it has not been used since 1995ish. Prior to him owning the machine, this skiver was used to manufacture NYC firemen's helmets in a manhattan factory. The machine is mounted on a converted wooden sewing machine table and is run with a clutch motor and leather and rubber belts. This is comparable to fortuna machines and parts such as Bell knife, sharpening stone, rollers, presser feet should be interchangeable with parts easily found on ebay if necessary down the road. Everything on it right now still appears to have plenty of life left. I will also include a heavy metal roller tool for compressing turned/glued edges. Local pickup only in Ridgewood, NJ. You may inspect items prior to purchase. Payment Methods - cash / money order / bank check only Thanks very much! The website is not letting me upload photos, so if you are interested, PM me and I'll send you a Craigslist link to photos.

    Juki LU-563

A few months ago, I purchased a used Juki LU-563 from a reputable sewing machine seller in Atlanta, GA. The sewing machine, Consew analog servo motor, and table are all in great working order. There are plenty of online resources that helped me learn the machine and get started. After getting the hang of it (this is my first sewing machine experience ever), I'm not sure that it's the right fit for the products I'm currently making. Maybe another time. In the meantime, I need to recoup the expense and recover some floor space. I'm asking $1,000 for the head, table and servo motor. I'll update the post with some more pics next time I'm at the shop. Please let me know if you have any questions. I would prefer to sell the head/motor/table together, but that's negotiable. I would also prefer not to ship. I do frequently drive from Atlanta to Greensboro, so I could do a meetup/delivery within a reasonable radius of those two cities and that route. Thanks! Bill
  14. I have 2 machines for sale, local pickup only. Here's the details! Local pickup only- I'm in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY. $1500 - Highlead Sewing Machine I'm selling my brand new Highlead industrial sewing machine. Bought in December but I'm moving and need to sell it. It is in excellent, brand new condition. On par with Juki machines but half the price. I've always used Juki machines and I am highly impressed by this brand- much better than Consew. 15. Hey Folks, does anyone know what this machine is?
  16. Hi all! Last year I bought this Cobra Class 4 sewing machine new. Since then, I have used to sew prototypes of our leather handbags. We are now working with a patron maker and this machine was not getting used for the past 2 months. Since I am not finding any use for it I'd rather see it go to a new home. I have been the only person using it and it is LIKE NEW. It has been used very lightly for about 12 months, regularly oiled, and always kept indoors. I got the 4-P Premium package, including various accessories to go along with it. I will be also including several thread bobbins, needles, etc NEVER had an issue with it. Regular price $2795 plus tax. Asking $1900, firm. I am in Santa Monica, CA, area. Pick up only. Thanks!
  17. Landis Belt Press that I bought in Canada directly from Landis factory and I refurbished it cosmetically. This machine is 110V electric and will punch all belt holes and tip of belt with ease. The current die is the original and comes with the sale but this machine needs a new die made. Everything works great, but again, the die needs replacing which you can have made by Campbell-Randall for $350-$400. Motor is very strong, has fresh paint and oiled well. This is a very rare machine and I have never found one like it. Used in my belt shop but need to make room in shop for bigger equipment. Foot pedal and hand operation methods (they are interlinked so operate as you choose. Asking $3800. Must pick up or YOU arrange for it to be picked up. I can crate to for you for $200. This is a rare and reliable piece of machinery for your leather shop. Don't let it pass you by. Questions? Please reply to post thanks! My zip code is 90731 which is where this machine is located.
  18. Hey all, I'm looking into foot press riveters for the shop. I'm looking primarily at the Heritage Foot Press and the foot press offered by Dan Byler, the Amish magician out of Dewittville, New York. I'm wanting to focus on solid brass tubular rivets, but the ability to do a double capped jiffy rivet would be nice too. A few questions I have: I have seen the Heritage Foot Press with some attachments I cannot find anywhere. Here's a video showing the attachment and if you look close you can see the style of rivet (photos attached as well). Anyone know where these attachments were picked up at? Anyone have a rivet source that will have a versatile selection? Looking for options. Has anyone bought a rivet machine from Dan Byler? I have the photos he sends in the mail, but no info on the types of rivets, dies, etc. that are compatible with it. Do you recommend any other foot press rivet machines out there that are extremely capable, affordable, and versatile in rivet types? I'm definitely leaning towards the machine from Dan Byler. I have his Bench-Top Press with Self Centering Table, and it's outstanding. The prices are right up my alley as well. You just can't find machines at these prices and quality. Would love any help y'all can give me. Really wanting to do my research and purchase the right machine. Cheers, Stephen
  19. I just finished up a restoration project I've been working on for several months, rebuilding and repainting a Singer 96-10. I'm in the process of fine-tuning him at the moment, but before I call it good, I want to ask the community a question. For anyone that owns / has used a gear-driven 95 or 96 class, do you notice the whizzing of the gears during use? I didn't actually sew with this guy very much before dissasembly, so I can't recall if I could hear the gears back then. When I was assembling him, I couldn't get sound from the gears to completely disappear. I got it quiet, but when he's running at speed, there's a definite whizzing noise. The teeth on these gears are just straight, not helical or hypoid, so I don't expect the sound to be non-existant... but I'm surprised it's making as much noise as it is. If you don't notice the sound of the gears, there's a couple things I can think of checking: I haven't packed enough grease in the gear boxes they need to be aligned in a specific way, with the correct teeth mating at the right spot they simply haven't been adjusted to quite the right spot. Should anyone have something to say on the matter, I would appreciate it! The results of my work: During reassembly
  20. Hello all! I'd like to introduce myself. I'm extremely new to leather work and vinyl work. I work with the USAF as an Avionics Technician on the B-1, F-16, B-2 and various other aircraft. I have a healthy background in electrical and computer engineering and maintenance. Currently I live in Japan, and I was lucky enough to come across a very rare care in the United States; an R32 gtr. So far, the car seems to be in good condition, even the interior is very nice for 25 year old car. It does have some cosmetic problems, and of course I want to do a custom interior retrim. I'm completely capable of trial and error, and taking my time with especially large projects such as an interior retrim. So I've been doing as much research as I can, and I decided to make an account here to get a first hand opinion from you guys. Currently, I've researched about the most prominent walking foot sewing machines, since I'll mostly be sewing vinyl. I've heard of the headaches that are solved by using a walking foot. I looked for pricing on the singer 111 series, and noticed that most of the pricing with motors and table almost always equal the price of a brand new Sailrite LS-1 basic. I've seen a few singer 95-15 around sewing leather, but how well does it honestly work with folded layers of vinyl and foam? I feel that it's a bit incredible that most of these older sewing machines, or general "used" new sewing machines are over 800 dollars. I feel that 600 USD for a brand new LS-1 is acceptable, but I was wondering what other machines I could use with heavy automotive / marine vinyl. Specifically, some allsport 4 way and some thick carpeting / foam padding. What other machines can you think of that don't break the bank? I'd say the main reason i'm looking for a ~600 maximum is because I would pay for someone to take the time and ship it to me (ie: paying extra for your efforts, plus the shipping cost). Of course, if push comes to shove, if anyone is in Florida, I can get one of my buddies to pick it up and ship it to me. What are y'alls opinion on my machine choices?
  21. Hello, I bought a Pfaff 345, unfortunately I've got a small problem with the stitching legth adjustment. I can't turn the knob stronger than 2mm. Does somebody knows how to solve that problem. In the pictures you can see the longest and the smallest length adjustment, possible at the moment. Thank you. Regards, Oakley

  23. Does anyone one know the value of this J.D. Randall leather strip cutting machine? I know nothing about it and cant find anything on the internet.
  24. I have a Cobra Class 18 with a speed reducer and Brushless Digital Servo Motor on it. I have sewn on it for a year, now and feel that I am ready to speed up the motor but cannot remember the sequence to program the motor to run faster. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks in advance. READ MY ANSWER IN THE POST BELOW. HOW TO PROGRAM THE SPEED ON THE DIGITAL SERVO MOTOR.
  25. Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me. I've looked in the forum but I can't find this information. I'm new to leatherwork and looking into buying my first sewing machine, I've read a lot of threads and have a few machines in mind, but my question is, can the machines in the $2,000 range do stitches starting outside of the leather? If that doesn't make any sense please take a look at the attached image, I'm looking for a machine that can do the stitch on the left, that starts outside of the leather, as opposed to inside as in the right image. I apologize if I'm not using the right vocabulary, but like I said I'm very new. Thanks in advance for your help. RG
