  1. Looks pretty good Yin, I am really diggin' your carving as of late sir! @Sheilajeanne, great tip, I for one will keep that in mind next flower I botch
  2. My god man! Save some perfection for the rest of us to strive for! That is some really nice work Dale, color is perfect, edges:perfect, overall design is killer. Everything about it is nice man, you should be proud of that. The only thing I can see to comment on aside from the stunning overall work is on the Brogue patch, the edges aren't dyed but that could have even been intentional, and it STILL looks perfect as it is.
  3. I don't have a VB awl but I have reprofiled my awls and am actually in the process of working on a new one (a Wuta, the one on the right side of each of the pics). Notice how it is much thicker in all dimensions, notably, the tip. I've been working on it here and there and am in the process of basically taking just the first 3 or 4 mm down to be what the one on the left is. What you are shooting for is to make the pointy part easier to get into the leather but still big enough to hold up to repeated use. You want it thin and sharp as hell at the tip (the cutting part) and the rest can just be polished up so it glides in and back out easily after it has stretch the hole into its diamond shape. Hope that helps Congrats on your VB awl, I've never heard a bad thing about VB tools.
  4. Their stitching looks great. How's the backside looking? And, yes, I'd cut them out some things for them to sew.
  5. That's a great story and I'm glad you got to be a part of it!
  6. Looks great and thanks for the template.
  7. Wow man! I hope the recipient understands the masterpiece she took possession of. Reeeeeally nice work @ABHandmade.
  8. I heard it @immiketoo. I'm just glad you didn't choose this pic of Mr. Connery @ABHandmade: I lol everytime I see this one. Sorry to detract from your rather awesome embossing Andrey!
  9. Welcome! Tons of great info and experience here. Don't be shy posting pics
  10. Great question! I'm wanting to see a few replies. I only feed on friends and family right now and under the understanding that I'll get it done when I get it done.
  11. Looks good! Those are probably pretty marketable as well. Good job!
  12. Beautiful! Congrats on the knife and being patient!
  13. Welcome back and I'm glad you are able to do what makes you happy again!
  14. I was going to mention that too @dikman. I have used a double pass in the past but usually just do one because it works and it pulls out of the eye when I'm done far easier.
  15. It sounds like you are onto what you want to make already. Give those vests a go and see if you like it. If they don't fit your desires, try something else. I chose wallets and made a bunch of them and now they are second nature and turn out beautiful when I keep out of my own way.
  16. Aside from the few hiccups with stitching, that is super nice work!
