  1. The strap should fit the buckle. Yours may be thinned by stretching, but that would be A LOT of stretch. Width and thickness are your friends. The mentions of layers is a good idea, as is the stitching. Oh, and stop collecting boulders in your rucksack. Sandwiches, spare socks, maybe beers and ice, but that's about it. Jeff
  2. my sadie...they look to be about the same size, mine's 30 lbs. of sqwurel chasin' machine.
  3. Must have been the server, as I couldn't see it either, but it's there now. Lost in the universe, found it's way back. Amazing. I'll take it for 30 bucks shipped. I'll PM you with info. Jeff
  4. Yep, medical syringes for dye. I use pipettes for mixing dyes, too. Jeff
  5. like how you put some dye on the outside of the bottle so you can tell at a glance what color it is! I do that with dye, stain, glue, etc. Jeff
  6. Anything that goes to Fakebook loses me. I've tried it twice for different reasons, and happily left each time. This forum, however, rocks! Jeff
  7. Just found this thread going down the list on the home page. Unbelievable. I just took my new dog, (picked her up in Laramie on Tuesday) Sadie, for a walk, and before going out, tried to decide whether to take a shotgun shell caddy for treats. Must be my nearness to Aurora sent the vibes! Now I know how to make a leather pouch. Jeff
  8. Check out Texas Custom Dies, Inc. They have a banner ad on this forum's home page, if it's not there, just keep clicking on the forum logo and the banners will cycle. They're in Mansfield. I would imagine they can help you or maybe head you in the right direction. Jeff
  9. Amazing! I had to go back and try to see two stamps. Twice the work, but a really nice effect. Jeff
  10. Which Horween is that? I scored a couple of sides of Chromexcel, and love it! I know there's Derby and Essex. Yours doesn't look at all like mine. Mine has a LOT of oils/waxes/grease in it, and I don't think you could add anything to make it more water resistant! Great pull-up, though. Jeff
  11. I need one too. I've been using this cobbled up setup, but it's a pain. stormcrow, is it easy to put a seamless background in there to eliminate the seam at the junction of the back and floor? (In addition to colored backgrounds also.)
  12. Good looking work! I see you've been on the forum long enough to know that the blade must also be shown. Glad you could make a sheath worthy of the knife. Jeff
  13. I see, it was the fitted recess for the pin that made it look like it was the spur type. Nice buckle. Nice belt, too! Thanks for the pic. Jeff
  14. Your hardware is very robust. Yes, that's a good thing, but your buyer has to haul all that around in addition to the tools, and yes all those nails. Do a bit of engineering and find out how to get the most work for the least weight. Remember the user has to carry this rig around all day, in addition to tools/hardware. Don't use 14oz leather if 8oz will do, and same goes for the swivel snaps, D rings etc. After building airplanes, I've grown to appreciate the difference between strengthening a tractor, vs an airplane. Tractor, weld on more steel...airplane, go light, radius corners, and cut lightening holes wherever possible. Another example: Hikers/climbers look to save weight, like cutting half the handle of your toothbrush off. That's a fraction of an ounce, right there! And, it allows you to carry more nails. Jeff
  15. Very nice! I have to admit I've got more than a few belts also. Does that buckle have a regular pin, or a protrusion from the end of the buckle? Jeff
  16. Now that's funny. Thanks for the laugh! Jeff
  17. Congratulations!!!!!!! My mother was a "boot pusher" in the Women Marines in WWII, at Camp Lejune. She had two birthdays for all of my life, hers, and the Marines. My younger brother pushed boots from Paris Island. So did his wife. Again, two birthdays. Whatever else happens in your life, they can't take that away from you. Semper Fi! Jeff (Coast Guard...go figure!)
  18. You crank out that great work from that little corner? I don't believe it! Get an LED light bar from Lowes or Home Depot. I have one over my large table and another over my desk area, best lighting ever. They're long enough that they aren't directional. Jeff
  19. It sounds like all of your suspicions are spot on about him. Red flags, especially at this point in your relationship. Jeff
  20. Looking at that, I can see where my idea of the pen in the fold wouldn't work so well for a notes thing. Good to know! Jeff
  21. An even simpler pen "holder" can be achieved like this... I know this isn't a passport wallet or field notes book, but it's the same idea. Just make sure to allow for the additional width of the back piece to allow for the pen in the middle. Jeff
