  1. Buckleguy is the cheapest I know of on purchasing bulk hardware.
  2. Can I ask what ground seat is? Thanks.
  3. I own a Cobra class 26, while I am a newbie to sewing machines. I think going from 1 type of leather to another type of leather, you will need to make a thread tension adjustment. That or you will need to find a happy medium for thread tension of the 2 leathers you are using.
  4. Looks great! Beautiful. Nice work.
  5. I finally got my 1st side of leather with a brand mark. It is a horseshoe. I think I will make a wallet with it. When dyed it should really stick out & make a neat wallet.
  6. Check out Zelikovitz Leather, they have 4-5 different patterns. Maybe get some insight from them.
  7. Yeah I forgot about that. I guess Fiebings Saddle Lacq might be close to the Tandy stuff too.
  8. I think you could. But I would do a test piece. I would worry about the lacquer cracking when the leather flexed. But you could mix some flex agent in with the lacquer to prevent it from cracking.
  9. I must of done something wrong? I was summoned! I guess I must really make my duty belts overkill. My carry belts are 6-9mm thick. Plus I put a plastic stiffner in them if the customer wants it.
  10. You might check my thread on the Tandy Pro Manual strap cutter. It's a nice machine. You can cut up to 7 straps at one time, depending on width. It cuts 14-16oz saddle skirting like butter.
  11. Yeah the Weaver Diamond stitching chisels are nice. They only cost about $25/set. So if you are looking to get a set. I would check them out.
  12. I will recommend this manual leather skiver if you are working with veg-tan leather. I know it's China made, but this is a good manual skiver for the money. It works great. It is the same one that tandy, buckleguy, & a few other companies sell, but at 1/2 to a third of the price. The blade will need to be touched up if you decide to get it.
  13. Yep built diesel engines & worked on diesel trucks for 25-30years. 20 of them years for Caterpillar. Yes I like 4 or 5mm stitch spacing on my leather projects. I bought the weaver brand diamond stitching chisels cause they were priced right. KS Blade diamond chisels are super nice, but they are over $300 for a set.
  14. Can you show us a pic of the leather you are using? Mulesaw might have already mentioned it, but chrome tan & oil tan leather will not take & hold a stamp impression
  15. I use 4&5mm diamond chisels from weaver. I was planning on buying some KS Blade diamond chisels, but I haven't yet. They are expensive.
  16. Lmao i am getting weak!!!
  17. Holy Bat Azz Robin!!! This thing is fn heavy. Came in a wooden crate! Going have to file a worksman comp claim!!!
  18. @Yukonrookie you might also check out: Rons Tools he makes a bunch of different styles of edge bevelers. He makes nice stuff..
  19. Sorry for not replying sooner. I know you asked me this earlier on this. I'll try my best to show you & explain. Here is a #3 Palosanto edger on 10-12oz brown Latigo leather. As you can see in the pics it kinda cuts like a 45° angle. But if you sand the edges lightly it will give it a nice rounded edge. Here is some pics with "No Sanding" on the edge. I just beveled it & took some pics.
  20. Thanks. So did you have clicker cutting dies made or brass embossing stamps? Weaver about 6 months ago or so, opened a shop for custom cutting dies for clicker presses. Or they got hammer type cutting dies. Here is what they will be making cutting dies for. Vertical & horizontal wallet card pockets.
  21. Well guys & gals I decided to try Weavers Custom Die Shop to make 4 wallet card pocket dies. Has anybody else tried them? I set my patterns off this morning for the dies I want made. I got a rough quote of $75/die. So we will see.
  22. What are you actually wanting? Dimensions for the pedestal stand? Did you get the speed reducer pulley & bracket? Thanks.
  23. I was told every time you have the throat plate off. You got to adjust it so the feed dog don't contact the sides of the throat plate. I think you just need to readjust your throat plate. Also leave the throat plate a touch loose & cycle your machine by hand to help align it. Then hold the throat plate as you snug the screws.
  24. That machine has seen a lot of sewing. Great old machine thou.
