  1. It could be that social media is losing it attraction all the way around. I've quit posting on all except this one.
  2. my two cents. 1. Its social media to go on any site and block people for expressing their thoughts or ideas is light years beyond stupid. Blocking them because they are personally attacking you is another thing altogether. I personally have blocked two people in my entire life, one on FB years ago and one on this site. I absolutely believe that every citizen has the right to speak freely and express their selves no matter the platform until they become personally abusive. I also believe every person has the right to move on, not listen or ignore that is also a personal choice. I'm Not part of the cancel culture and i never will be. I feel those who are to uninspired of personal knowledge to see more to life than their own little tunnel of thought are pretty ignorant of the world around them but they have no right to intentionally try to cancel those that are inspired to see hear new or old thoughts, and form their own opinions and make personal comments to that knowledge. 2.The best part of how the moderators set this site up is adding an off topic and adult section.. I think everyone here can see that the off topic section has kept a lot of todays problems off the regular leather thread forum which is a good thing IMO. Plus I don't care to see someone's wife or boy friend in a leather thong so putting that in its own little place is also a good thing. But the bottom line is and always should be free thought on social media IMO. Post a pic of your BF in a thong. Post how you like BLM, drugs, church or any topic you desire I don't care I'll read it or not...…l. But i wont take my animosity or dislike of it to the leather work side of the forum I'm better than that.
  3. interesting I would like to see the whole setup. Is it for reenactments ? a medieval design? lol you read my mind! That is super cool friend!!
  4. a piece of 1/2" thick flat bar C clamped to a good stout table.
  5. lol i live on the intersection of I -80, the transcontinental railroad, and the continental divide trail. We used to have hobos when i was a kid. Now we have hobos, hitch hikrers, bicyclers, walkers, and about every other possible known traveler that are stealth camping. But the funniest, most ironic, of all our American stealth campers are those old folks who buy $500,000 dollar motorhomes then camp in our Walmart parking lots to save a buck. are you going to put a strap or some way to carry it?
  6. lol I don't know , its just called camping here, I've never camped in a campground in my life.
  7. Thanks for the link !!
  8. that is very cool. What is wild camping?
  9. amazing!! Its one of the best i;ve seen.
  10. In about another month the snow will be gone and the creeks low enough to catch some Brookies. I cant wait its my favorite type of fishing. you have to sneak up on these smart lil critters, in the shallow water of the small creeks they can see you as well as feel you walking on the bank.
  11. those are looking great !!! glue one side then fold and glue the other side.
  12. i have three generators luckily i haven't had to use them here at home. The oldest is really cool. Its an old Korean war vintage army generator made for radio ops. 600 watts lol. but its as quiet as a mouse.
  13. i just noticed that metal strap on your bike under the bottle holder that you are using to tie off on. You can easily sew it or rivet it to the bottle holder with a small strap and problem solved. Maybe get two one for top and bottom
  14. its a great first try. Often designing takes a few tries to get prefect but I agree it works and doesn't look bad at all. That old leather has an awesome patina.
  15. metal reacts with veg tan and stains it black. The metal was wet or the wallet was wet. Vinegaroon, a concoction of vinegar and metal has been used for ages to turn leather coal black.
  16. That rocks! awesome color combo and simple elegant design!! That natural is gonna look really cool as it ages and tans out some.
  17. lol i have one and wear it once in a while on very special occasions. My mom and dad both came from ranching families and dad wore one all his life, they were both tried and true cowboy and girl from Wyoming homesteads. I always figured a cowboy hat had to be earned somehow, riding for cattle with snow blowing down your back or at the least a few years of the work and a few broken bones , maybe a hitch in my giddy up its a hard rough life. I never really felt i earned that right, i have rode a few horses bucked a few bales, fed a few winters. and bellied up to the bar many times. lol however so i do occasionally, my daily is an old dirty baseball style with the flag on it and i need a new one. Dad bought a new straw every spring and wore his old one for fishing, he usually tore the brim off fanning the fire at fish camp every summer on the fourth of July. I think i may buy a straw hat this spring.
  18. dang if it isnt! lol They take a pretty good edge. That sheath look like a couple i made as a youngun too. lol
  19. does it take cocoa too? looks like fudge kinda
  20. great way to end a career IMO you are a lucky man wore out or not lol. Yes i live in a very touristy part of the world and am also retired. If i wanted i 'm sure i could become a 24/7 leather worker also. especially in the summer lol with Yellowstone folks, Sturgis folks and great divide walkers, bicyclers, and truckers all going through my town. If this inflation doesn't slow i may have to be going for it though. I've been thinking about fixing up my old sheep wagon and using it as an eye catcher down at the local parking lot where all the food wagons set up. They pull in a bunch of folks all day long. and an old wagon would go right along with some leather, maybe even wear a cowboy hat lol.
  21. ahh nothin like livin in the 21st century lol. Aint life great.

  24. yes its hard to remake a diecut and machine sewn 2 minute sheath( most knives come with) with quality leather, welt, and hand sewing and all the rest of the work that goes into it and make money. I fully explain the difference before hand as well as showing the finished product next to the original when they pick it up. I've always made a good profit, its quality leather but these small things are strap ends, cut offs.
