  1. Nothing like replicating nature. Great details on them there wolves. Great job on the moon too, carving circles is hard for me to get them perfectly round. Nice job!
  2. Very nice. Glad you were able to salvage the pieces from the house fire. Never used embossing wheel. Looks great.
  3. Tandy makes a product called "Saddle Lac" that is a spray on laquer. If your leather bag is fairly stout and doesn't bend much, it will work great. If the bag is somewhat lightweight and can bend and crease easily, the Saddle Lac will crack at the bends and peel off. Simply warm up the can (place can in a ziploc bag and run hot water over the bag), then shake it like a rattle paint can, and spray a light coating over it.
  4. Not sure if I have one of those or not. My tools are packed up at the moment. What do you use it for? Do you have pics of how you use it?
  5. As many have stated, those are stunning. The conchos really add that little bit of pizazz.
  6. It is hard to do free hand lettering, as they are so identifiable. You did a great job!
  7. I can't help with sewing machines, but I can say "Welcome". Located in SW Missouri, USA
  8. As always Chuck...beautifully done. Both the knives and the sheaths! Wyoming stated loudly in those.
  9. What a work of art. Love the 2-tone, even the loop...double layer. Beautiful.
  10. Very nice. Both the firearm and the holster. Beautiful!

Looks like it ought to be hanging from a coat peg in a lodge in the mountains. WOW. Amazing. Such workmanship...I would be afraid to wear it out and about; fearful of getting it scuffed up. Beautiful!!!!
  12. All I can say is wow! that sure beats carrying them around in an old plastic pretzel container. Stunning!
  13. Very clean workmanship on all the above. Glad you shared them with us!!
  14. Thanks for the info. I will have to take a look.
  15. Impressive!!!! Hopefully you have worked up some callouses on your fingers from the sewing, as soon as your other relatives see this, you will be making many more!!!
  16. I mainly use this weight. I cut out two mirror image pieces and glue them together to make holsters. Hat patches, journal covers...the list goes on and on. I also typed in "5-6 oz vegetable tanned leather" on YouTube and it brought up many videos.
  17. That will be a handy case for sure. whatever you do, don't use chrome-tanned leather. It can damage your firearm. You will want to use a 2-3 oz veg-tan material. When finished, rub it down with neatsfoot oil or a mink oil to keep it soft and supple. Do NOT use a chrome-tan suede. Lacing would be quicker, but depending on the look you are going for, you may want to saddle stitch it. To make evenly spaced holes for stitching, you can mark them with a stitching wheel (https://tandyleather.com/products/craftool-spacer-set?_pos=2&_sid=eac9237a7&_ss=r) then punching holes with an awl or using stitching chisels for hand stitching (https://tandyleather.com/collections/tools/products/88043-535-pro-line-diamond-stitching-chisels)
  18. Pretty cool. What is the leather thickness? It's hard to make out the fine details in the patch.
  19. very nice. Did you die them before or after the cut? Or was the leather pre-dyed?
  20. Hey @fredk, there is nothing nefarious going on with this guy. He actually started up the International Leather Club and now has a periodical journal including interviews with well-known folks in the leather industry. I have actually been writing for him for nearly a year. It is legit. You are welcome to check out the latest journal at https://www.internationalleatherclub.com/international-leather-journal/. It is a way to keep the craft alive and teach new generations. Always looking for new writers to advance the knowledge base of the craft.
  21. Definitely looks built for speed. Coming along nicely.
  22. Welcome from SW Missouri. Lots of good info here, especially about sewing machines. Good luck.
  23. Very sharp. Glad you stopped back in.
  24. It appears they are quite different.
  25. @Wizcrafts I am new to sewing machines. I have only owned a cobbler machine from China. It was not pretty. I do have the opportunity (going to look at it this afternoon) to purchase an American Straight Stitcher for $500. I am told it works well and looks to be in good shape from the pictures. I think it is owned by its 3rd owner. I will mainly sew sheaths, belts, and holsters on it. thoughts?
